My 6.0 was bulletproofed by the previous owner. I got it at 200k miles and put another 200k on it with no issues. Now I’m looking for another 6.0

I have a 2007 6.0 with 250k, stock head gaskets. Runs great. I've hauled many times up to the max GCWR (23, 500) and Trailer tow rating (15, 500) no issues, pulls great. The owner of a 6.0 has to really care and understand how the engine works and what to look out for.

My 6.0 has 230, 000 miles on it with stock heads, not bullet proof, stock turbo, the only thin I did was the EGR cooler. Love my 6.0

Had my 05 6.0 for 3 years. Bought it with 65k now has 110k. Truck worked for a year hauling heavy construction trailers, worked the truck hard never gave me any issues. Good quality fluids, fuel additives, coolant filter, egr delete, don’t put a studded tune on a non studded truck. Take care of the truck & it will take care of u. Love my 6.0 plan on keeping it for a long time

I’m not paying $80k for a smog choked modern diesel. So old diesels are the way I’m going. I can buy an old 6.0, put a new motor in it, maintain it, and be perfectly happy. And still have $50k to $60k in my pocket. And I won’t care if I get a scratch on it.

My family has two 2006 we do the regular maintenance. Use and treat them like trucks....NOT A RACE No PROBLEMS

My 04 F-350 6.0 powerstroke is coming up on 300, 000 miles bone stock aside from a sinister diesel oil and coolant filter and new injectors. All I use it for is hauling so it's run hard.

It has not been studded or deleted. It has also never had a tuner on it. I do maintain it well.

I bought one about 8 months ago now. Had 259 in it. Now at 276k, including towing a 8k lb camper from Chicago to Sturgis and back. No issues so far other than general maintenance items and some front end work.

I have a late 04. 5 years later, egr delete, an a oil cooler. I had to change the pigtail on my turbo cuz it was old an cracked up. i changed the ipr sensor once. I havent had a real problem. An u dont have to "bullet proof" it. Egr delete an no big ass 80hp tunes, u good. The people u hear talking bout a 6.0 bad are the ones u see rolling coal, burning out all day, racing. Shit no vehicle should do on a weekly basis. I love my 6.0. And they sound awesome.

Great trucks for pulling. I just got my 3rd 2006 6.0L. The first one I went through the engine, put air bags and a gooseneck hitch in it. Pulled loads up to 26K plus no problems It was stolen 2 times before I never saw it again. Second is setup for plowing snow. At 191K miles the only thing wrong is the transfer case. I just got the third one to replace the stolen first one. Got a crew cab which is what I wanted with the first one which was a super cab. Just finished going through the engine with STC replacement, oil cooler, EGR cooler, New stainless up pipes, cleaned the turbo, checked the compression which was 16 psi difference between the high and low. After 18 years there have been some upgrades so it got the 08 fuel banjo fittings, blue spring, aluminum finned rear diff cover, 08 trans pan and filter, 2017 starter and some gauges. The first one would get 9.5 to 10.5 MPG at a gross weight of 20K or over and 15-16 empty coming back. With the 38 gal main tank and a 100 gal transfer tank in the bed under load I could make a 1150 mile trip and stop where I wanted to stop and fuel where the best price was and still have fuel to turn around some. 3.73 ratio helped some, never had a lack of power. At those weights only a fool goes fast with 20-30 feet of trailer behind them. Wouldn't own anything else. Easy to work on the bit parts are not any worse than any other engine. Shell Rotella T6 oil and donaldson or wix filters kept her running. Great trucks.

2005 6.0 owner, 200k on the clock and is very reliable. Do the necessary upgrades and good to go!

He's not wrong, upkeep maintenance on them and bulletproof them and they'll last forever. I bought mine at 130k and it was already bulletprooded. It has 190k on it now. The only thing i've had to replace under ownership was the waterpump, which was about 500 miles ago. It has also stayed in the hot tune since i've bought it other than when i'm towing.

Just bought a late 04 with 80k already bulletproof and deleted. All the aesthetic addons. 38s on 20s. Etc. My first Ford and I'm loving it.

The fast clicking turn signals is because the job was half assed. Resistance needs to be added to make it work properly.

Almost totally stock ‘05 F250, 4X4. Upgraded FICM, radiator, blue spring, EGR cooler. Still has the EGR valve and all emissions. Not chipped. Not raised. Runs fine and I pull a 9K boat/trailer all over WA State and even over the mountains into Idaho. Use good oil & filter. Keep up on preventative maintenance. Use the proper EL coolant, not the Ford gold crap, especially after oil cooler replacement.

2003, 497k miles all original, only breaks, shocks, and plastic and hoses was replaced.. performed severe duty service religiously… no mods, all stock… every time I go to get oil change shop offered me $15k… I pass every time. I take that back.. I did have a flat tire once… and I did added coolant filter because while changing coolant I found sand. Oh and live in CA with stupid smog… pass every time.

I've had my '07 since new.
I did all the services with OEM parts.
I head studded and proper egr delete after warranty was up.
I run proper, quality fuel additive.
The truck was an oilfield truck in northern Alberta for many years.(went through a fair amount of abuse).
My partner went same truck configuration but a dodge Cummins.
I changed a drag link and an alternator.
That is it!
He was doing his front end every 60k.
And that Cummins, that I believed in, is toast!
And my 6.0 is still going strong.
Hand to god.
Learn about your 6.0(second gen, 05 or later)and how to take care of it and maintain it properly.
It is actually a pretty good option considering that the chassis and transmission it sits in is excellent!
But buying used is a huge gamble I know.
I ran the dodge Cummins.
The engine was absolutely amazing.
But everything else around it failed and wasn't worth it.

314k miles on my stock 6.0 egr delete and a straight pipe no tuner just cold air intake has new high pressure oil pump and that’s it and runs like a top

Bulletproofed mine (2005 Lariat dually 4WD Crewcab) at 38, 000 after blown head gaskets…had to put a higher output alternator on it after batteries and FICM failed repeatedly, and circuit board died (Nations sells great units); all electrical issues instantly disappeared. At 100, 000 I did a complete cooling system upgrade w/Bulletproof Diesel’s package and added a tuner. Added Banks monster exhaust. Upgraded the factory turbo and intake, added a coolant filtering system. Redid ball joints, new upgraded steering box. Stay on top of maintenance, use Rotella T-6 full synthetic and Archoil friction reducer at every oil change, and Archoil fuel additive at every fill-up. At 110, 000 miles, the truck runs and handles better than when I got it new. Have likely put close to $20 k in it, but it’s paid for and I can take it anywhere and tow what I need to. It only took me twenty years to get my truck the way I wanted it.
