USS Discovery is full of flamethrowers 🔥 Star Trek

There seems to be an awful lot of fire on the decks of 32nd Century Federation starships. In addition to the standard rocks and sparks usually seen in Star Trek, this week's excellent episode of Star Trek Discovery added... flamethrowers?

I decided to count the fireballs in the show, but YouTube Shorts are limited to just under 60 seconds, and I couldn't fit them all in 😂

I loved this premiere and didn't notice the flames much at all on first watch, but once you see it you can't unsee it. These are the Star Trek rocks of a new generation!

[edit] my new theory is that these are rock vaporizers, and that if it wasn't for them there'd be rocks flying everywhere

well you can tell 1000 years have passed, Starfleet managed to add not only rocks inside the consoles but also flamethrowers inside the walls.

Yes, I agree this is horrible. If that much flame was coming out of your panel you'd show a lot more concern. Also, that two behind the captain's chair that just keep blasting over and over as if it's a feature and not a bug is just bad.

But the flamethrowers were still not as mind-boggling to me as when they showed the turbo-lifts apparently flying around what appeared to be the inside of a small artificial moon. What, is the Discovery some kind of TARDIS now?! From the outside it looks like a metal pancake with nacelles!! And don't get me started on the stories...

Nothing "excellent" about very poor scriptwriting and illogical set pieces. The fact they didn't see the stupidity of this in post and left it in for both episodes now perfectly illustrates how they've cared little about the substance and instead focused heavily on flair.
