Calling it a Realtor Degree makes me concerned that she is going to get scammed out of money instead of seeing what the actual licensing process is.

Realtors work nights, weekends showing property, and weekdays attending closings- at the whim of other people's schedules. Not a great fit for a person without round the clock childcare.

Same path as her:
-Amazon
-School schedule 30 hrs
-Associates Degree
-No kids though

But come to find out that degrees and internships aren't enough for entry level jobs, only work experience. A recruiter even asked me during an interview "ok you have a degree and multiple internships but do you have any *real* work experience?" It was for a job that only needs a high school diploma. How are we supposed to break into the industry? People are retiring so they need to start filling up the spots.

My manager at my last job has six kids and she’s a single parent. She was only making $16.50 per hour and had to work pretty much all day every day to afford to live, even with a roommate and welfare. I don’t envy anyone in that position. Good luck to single parents out there!

She's trying and hasn't given up on her children, I hope she can pull through and shows everybody an example of how someone can do it EVEN in todays standards since too many people use the excuse of how things are going in their life to not pull their own weight! Go Mrs.Pink!

Yes, people dont talk about certifications enough! I started my psychology degree, never graduated. At 18 i got a job at a bank and worked to Asst Branch Mgr, offered Insurance Agent position and just had to pass Property and Casualty certification. Did that for 10 years and went to paralegal at a law firm, which led to a court clerk at district court. I have no degree.
However there are so many jobs i can gateway into by getting certified to get or negotiate the new employer to pay for my certification.
(PS im a single parent)

Unless she has care available 24/7 for her kids there’s no way that she can do real estate. That’s nights and weekends, all the time. And paperwork during the day 😜

Work at a school district. A lot of jobs pay 20 an hour or more..well that is here in CA. That way you can be on track with your kids schools etc.

She reminds me so much of some of my family. Have so many certifications and even degrees, but they don't do anything with it. Just wasted all that time they could spend on their kids

I have a bachelor's degree in math. I realized after graduating that a math degree wasn't as marketable as I thought it would be. The problem is that it's too broad and not specific enough. Going back to school is something I'm really not hot on though.

You can use psychology for EVERYTHING. You don't have to be a psychologist, just tell people how the skills you learned studying psychology will apply to their job, leveraging the degree like you said.
