I love the cover of your Mansfield Park. I also like Fanny very much. They are so many quotes in Mansfield Park that I want to write down😍 Happy Jane Austen July! At the moment I am reading Evelina and Northanger Abbey🌹

I absolutely love that you do not have an electric mixer, I think there is a lovely simplicity to enjoying making something with your bare hands. Thank You for this lovely vlog.

I also struggle with Austen's lack of description & detail, but then again, I always seem to get so much more out of her novels when I reread them. Mansfield Park is so good. 📖🤍 100% agree about emotional history and bagels being for any time of day 😊🌟

This is the first time I hear of Maritozzi, looks quite appetizing! I should try them, I baked last weekend Rhubarb and Custard cake, and I liked this combination. Reading as well Mansfield Park and I agree Fanny is in a difficult situation. In the end, she showed her strong character when it was crucial for her future. Planning to read for the first time Byron for the contemporary with Austen challenge.

Yay for the Josephine B. Trilogy! It sounds soooo up your alley, I loved your insight already on what you think of her from Napoleon’s book. Hope you love it.

I Maritozzi are one of my favourite pastry and because I live in Rome, I have also very good choice!

I am reading Don Quixote right now - I just finished the first book - and am loving it. I think the humor is oversold. There isn't that much of it. What is most appealing about this book to me is the underlying motivations of the characters, their relationships, the portrayal of mental health, and the feminist/patriarchal representations in the book. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.

The lack of description in Jane Austen is definitely a struggle of mine as well. I attempted Pride and Prejudice two times before this Jane Austen July and I’m pushing myself through it. In a way, I just really don’t care about the characters enough but for some reason I want to finish it just to give it a real shot.

The Maritozzi looks delicious 😋 I’ve e never heard of it until now.

I have long been a History Nut. Then, I read The Killer Angel's by Michael Shaara about the Battle of Gettysburg. I was transported to the battlefield as a f"fly on the wall" and Historical Fiction has been my favorite genre ever since. Love it!

I also appreciate Fanny in Mansfield Park because she would be a great and loyal friend in real life. BTW I am in the middle of The Marble Faun based on your recommendation and I am purposefully taking it slow to savor it - SO GOOD!

I'm not even participating in Jane Austen Jluy, but I'd love to read Emma this month.

Also I finished The Witch's Heart a few days ago after hearing you talk about it a few months back and I loved it so so much! Thank you for introducing me to it haha.

I'm not participating in Jane Austen July this year but I really enjoy watching all of your vlogs :) If you did end up making a video about the French Revolution I would really enjoy it! The Josaphine B. book is one I'd heard of before but it does sound really interesting!

I couldn’t agree with you more about making history more emotive! That’s why I love it too! You want to feel, that way you are much more connected to the people of the time and they come alive again!

I love your vlogs! I started Emma today and just know I will love it. How about a Don Quixote read~along when you are ready? I have the exact same edition as you and so excited to finally get to it.

The maritozzi look amazing! Now I want to bake something as well haha. I hope you enjoy Yeats's poetry, he's one of my favourites. "The Second Coming", "Leda and the Swan" and "Sailing to Byzantium" are fantastic.

Great vlog Jennifer. I like the sound of the Josephine B Trilogy. I agree completely with your thoughts about seeking an emotional connection with historical writings. History is what shapes the present and who we are, for me there has to be an emotional pull. Hope you are having a great weekend x

Glad your pastries turned out well! I never understand people's hatred for Fanny. Yes she's not as sassy as other Jane Austen characters and I can understand some indifference to her, but hate is such a strong word for such a quiet yet integrity-strong character. Also very curious to hear your thoughts on Don Quixote. I do think you will enjoy it, though I don't think it will necessarily be a favorite for you. I could be wrong though!

If you like Madame Bovary, you’ll definitely like Cousin Basílio by Eça de Queiroz. I think it is translated . In Portuguese, the title is Primo Basílio. It’s a masterpiece.
