For people complaining about this review and suggesting Matt isn't genuine... I'd argue that Matt often gets excited about cars that are a bit interesting and not traditionally cool.

Just shows how ridiculous the car industry has become when a small city car is seen as a saviour

We need more smaller cars such as the Picanto. Larger vehicles come with higher upfront price tags and additional driving costs compared with smaller vehicles. Not all of us want or need an SUV or larger crossover.

And congratulations Matt for surpassing 400, 000 subscribers!

Hey, Matt, don't be ageist 😂; I'm 58 and have a 21 plate GT-Line S and love it!

It's a reasonably good quality city car for commuting, and it'll be pretty damn good at it. The 7 year warranty is a strong pull, if a car like this is your reliability record is good...

The only disappointment for me is Kia ditched the GT Line S with the 100hp engine, which I saw several reviews of saying it was like an old school baby-Hot-Hatch and a lot of fun. I'm guessing it's gone because of the fine margins in the segment. The Picanto in general is the story of Kia in a nutshell; once the choice of people who didn't care about cars and only cared about budget, but now a genuinely competitive, compelling option.

Small city cars are not dead yet! As someone who has owned 2 VW ups, this class of car will always have a place in my heart!

Great video as always Matt, I just bought a VW T-Cross last week (yes I gave in to the small SUV trend, despite previously judging it) and honestly, love the car! I learned from your channel to look for one with full history, low mileage and do a vehicle history check. Something I didn't do before buying my previous Mazda and definitely regretted! Thanks for everything Matt... Would like to know your honest opinion of the T-Cross and small SUVs :)

It's a nice car for people who aren't petrolheads. It's nice to slow down and smell the roses

I have a 70 plate 1 litre turbo GT Line S (99 bhp) as a daily over 60 miles a day and it's a great little car.

I've got the previous GT Line s with on a 23 plate with a 1 L turbo 99bhp. It's like an old school hot hatch.
I can't rate this car enough for what it is.
Proper hand brake, great box,
Electric windows all round, keyless start and entry, wireless charging, heated seats and Sterling wheel the list goes
Bought last last year for £16, 250.

I’ve always heard it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car badly. Put me in a Porsche I’d not have the abilities to push it to limit whith out getting killed, but I think I could have a great time briskly rowing this through the gears in this tiny KIA. Very good review.

Looked at this as we needed a second small car and to be honest it wasn't great, a poor dealership experience, price was silly for what the car is and the removal of the 99bhp turbo model which we had previously owned and loved is a poor move. We eventually went for an Aygo X which has a better warranty, much better finished interior, looks better externally IMO, but admittedly the same underpowered engine but it was £50 a month cheaper than the Kia. We've had it 3 months now and it's a brilliant car, 68 mpg average for our work runs up the A6, I think it beats the Kia in all areas but each to their own, if we all liked the same life would be boring. Nice video nonetheless 👍

My wife and I purchased a KIA Niro as our city car. I own a ‘96 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but I often opt to drive the KIA. 58 mpg makes the choice for me. It’s also a pleasure to drive.

This review has an wiff of the top gear second hand challange when they searched what they could buy for the price of a new nissan pixo. To be honest a restaurant near me has a kia picanto as the company car for shopping trips and local deliveries. Everytime I pass it I feel it has 50’s fiat 500 and 60’s mini vibes of a car that is enough. I feel we aren’t grateful for how practical and comfortable small cars have gotten and it’s a shame. When I was younger I was fascinated of the acces Dacia Logan that didn’t even have a stereo, but the thought that you could have a car in it’s purest essence makes you question how much car do you actually need in life? If any at all

Keep it for 7 years and it will still be worth far more than any EV.

I think it’s right to mix it up a bit. I love the lottery of the ‘I bought a lemon for £2.50’ videos, but no harm in Matt giving us his views on some of the new stuff that’s out there. No problem with Kia either - they are fantastic. I’m on my second. New Picantos in particular are fantastic to drive.

£17k for 62bhp? Car prices, new and used, are ridiculous.

There's just a problem with the Picanto, it's called the Sandero. For 15k you get a very well specced Dacia with a lot more space and boot, and a 90hp turbo engine

I predicted two years ago when I got my Sportage Mk 4 GT line S that pretty soon they will be selling more cars worldwide than BMW. They have come on leaps and bounds. I was in the Niro full electric the other day whilst mine was in for a warranty job. It was amazing and so quick!

Please Matt, can we have more of these new car reviews. Real information from a real (and hot😊) person, for real people. No frippery and nonsense, just really useful practical information. Much as I like your used car reviews, its just nice to hear about the car rather than what brand of tyres it has on each wheel. Great stuff ;)
