Just never buy a repossessed car.
If the owner couldn't make the payments, it's likely the owner didn't keep up on the maintenance either.

As someone who is young and cant afford a new car i've found some tips to not buy a lemon but theres always room to learn, id appreciate a video showing some major obvious flaws most car owners should look for in a used car and maybe a few recommendations of cheap yet reliable car for college students going back in just a few months.

I bought a new Chevy Silverado new back in 1989. I still have it and it has 415000 miles on it and never done anything major to the engine other than wear items like the alt, starter and oil change every 3000 miles. Runs like a top.

I bought a 2006 Honda Ridgeline for $10, 000 with only 1 owner, no accidents and all maintenance done at the dealer throughout its life. Still running beautifully!

Toyota 86, where I live (Brazil), they're not in the market. But if they were, by god I'd buy it! Some people say it's one of the most fun cars ever to drive

Good mechanics are a rare and valuable treasure. Find one you can trust and build up a rapport with them. There's some stuff I can do on my cars myself, but I have it done at a garage I trust. The mechanic there knows me, and when I have large jobs that I can't do I know I can trust him to do them right.

I bought a 1991 ford explorer for $900, 10 years ago and have put a starter, heater core and power steering pump on it and 200, 000 miles and still going. Original motor and 5 speed.

There are very few genuine people on youtube regardless of the content they create. Scotty is one of the genuine. I hope the time you spend answering peoples vehicle questions will eventually financially compensate you. Although you may not do it for financial gain you deserve it. From your editing style to your on camera demeanor It has made me a fan of your videos for many years.

I've never purchased anything except cheap used cars since first driving in the 90s. My dad taught me a bit, and I've learned a bit more with the help of manuals, magazines and then guys like Scotty and EricTheCarGuy online. Confident I'll probably never need to buy new, and I enjoy the hunt of finding a car with a minor problem now that I can fix!

Got lucky with my 00' F150 I bought 6 years ago, first vehicle. Over 200k miles now, still running and never lets me down. Outside of routine maintenance, no major repairs needed yet, just replaced the alternator and oil filter gasket. Love that truck so much, and I owe thanks to you Scotty! That truck is how I found this channel when I wanted to learn what maintenance should be done to keep the truck running well since it was older. Some of the first things I did on my own were flushed the cooling system and cleaned the throttle body.
