The FASTEST Way I Learned To Shred On Guitar 🎸🎵🎶🔥

In this video, I am giving you a brief overview of a guitar hack that I teach to my Skype students regarding how to play fast without adopting the typical picking at 1000mph approach. Lots of repetitive licks mixed with hammer-ons and pull-offs. That is the secret. Then there is the pick every approach I won't be talking about.

Speed comes with direction. If you know where you’re going it’s easy to go fast.

Compared to Cameron: Me 17 years ago - Smoke on the Water. Me now - Smoke on the Water a little faster.

It’s all about enjoying the instrument while you play.

This is what I did during my school talent show.
Took my guitar pedal and started playing a simple riff.
Everybody was convinced that I was shredding because of the sound the pedal was creating.
Now am a legend

This is the kind of stuff I would like to work on. Right now if I try to "shred" I sound like a blues player with anger management issues lol

"use a pentatonic scale because I don't want to exclude anybody."

Me : What's a pentatonic scale

While I don't think Shredding is everything to guitar, I understand how it can open more doors and possibilities to styles and skills you can advance to! Love how you break it down, especially using the pentatonics as a basis!

We all know the color of the guitar plays a part on our playing speed

These shredding exercises are better than anything else I have found on YouTube. This is really helpful. Thank you.

Finally, Someone that wants to teach guitar. Not just show how much better they are. Thank you for your video. I learned more from you in 15 minutes, then so many other videos.

Keep in mind folks... you will never play as fast as Cameron Cooper UNLESS you spend as much time as he does practicing. Most of us only participate in practicing until we get it right then we walk away and we give up if we don't get it right (speaking for myself). Keep it up and you will be successful.

Bro, I been playing roughly 16 years and have found it hard to advance from where I am at. I feel like I've been playing the same repetitive stuff and this video just blew my mind. You definitely just gave me something I could work on that I never even thought about. I've been watching videos for the last 2 months trying to learn music theory, circle of fifths, names of the notes on my guitar and dont really understand it or even understand how to apply it to my playing because no one really goes to deep into detail for someone who is new to that stuff. I didn't learn any of that from this video but got more from this 1 video than these numerous so called"musically inclined" videos. Thanks for the video. Gret work and hope to see more.

Cameron you’re not patronizing. Great player who knows what he is doing, keep up the good work!

Cameron, your approach and insights on hybrid "legato" playing as opposed to "picking notes individually" is priceless. Keep it up. ;)
