It is because the Priest is Persona Christi... Jesus was and Is a Man. Therefore in order to truly represent Him, it must be a man of which Jesus called the 12. Very simple answer.

Sure, the Church may insist that Jesus didn't select any female apostles, but Jesus didn't forbid our bishops from attending and celebrating masses when nuns are taking her religious orders. I once heard a bishop responding to this request with "we are not there yet". Jesus never explicitly said that only men can preach and serve as priests, it is an interpretation made by the Church.

Thank you for this explanation. My highschool religion teacher would literally freeze up at this question, so I know it's not an easy one to answer. I appreciate the biblical references in regard to this answer.

Men are to be a sacrifice as a priest offers the sacrifice at the mass. Women are to be cherished as life givers.
This is alluded to in marriage. A husband dies to self (he is the sacrifice as Christ is for the Church) for his bride.
A priest/husband's mission is to build up the body/wife. To love this way is the highest form of love. Christ is the model for priests and husbands.

This is an example of having the answer " all priests must be men" and then working backwards to come up with a reason. Because jesus was a man? That is a tenuous link. He was also a god supposedly and we all know that priests are certainly not gods. His comment about priests being fathers is almost embarassing to hear - considering the behaviour of many priests over the years.

Am I the only one who do not buy this explanation? Women were treated like a dog 2000 years ago, that was the reason why a woman would have be a priest of this religion

If Jesus Christ wants women to became Catholic priest, He would have added His mother to be with the twelve Discilples at the Last Super, where He Ordered the Eucrachrist.

Not only this, but in the Old Testament God makes the sons of Levi to the priesthood that is to establish the priesthood Jesus puts in place. Jesus is the complement of that priesthood that God the father established already in the book of exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy.

What was important to Jesus???
Certainly not ceremony (Pharisee vs Publican), certainly not scriptures ( never preached with bible - fed the crowds).
It was people, not ritual!
It was sinners, not saints!
It was informality, not ceremony!
Jesus talked to people.
Jesus walked with people.
The Catholic Church is all about ritual and ceremony, sin vs good works!
Priests are an exclusive club and women are need to change this!!!

Women should be allowed to become priests there's no excuse for it in this day and age, I believe that there were women apostles too but they were written out of the Bible

It’s because we are not worthy of all seven sacraments.

Question, are priests part of the bride or have spousal relationship with him like the bride does? Can priests be part of the bride of Christ since, they are part of the church and the church is the bride? Or does representing Christ really limits how intimate of a relationship you can have with him?

The Apostolic letter, Ordinatio Sacredotalis is very clear. Those who want it should read it

You can just say that catholic is still patriarchal and misogynistic so you cant ordain women priests. Come on, be progressive. The time Jesus was alive was that time were women are being looked down on. Now that we know that they shouldn't be treated like that and are as equal as us, why can't you allow women who has capability, to preach and lead a church? I'm sure you'll say it's because that is what we are used to or it is a tradition whatsoever.

Side question, why can't women become permanent Deacons?

Women don't have to be priests to be saints. There were many if not hundreds of women throughout the history of the Catholic Church that were not priests. I am a man, can I be a nun?
Hail, Christ the King, and Holy Mary of Guadalupe!!!

This doesn’t really explain anything. Jesus never said “only men can be priests”. It’s quite a leap of logic that “Jesus is man therefore only men”
