I used to weigh 300 pounds
Started off by running in intervals, ran for a minute, walked 9 minutes. Now i can run 30 minutes straight that took me 3 months to do. Keep going y’all! ( i weigh 240 now)

5 miles is A LOT for even regular runners. 🤔

To clarify, he’s talking about weekly load here. 5-10 miles a week.

In my experience, I started running after years of no cardio and my first mile was a 9:47 and that was 100% effort, puking in my mouth at the end. I slowly progressed over the next month, doing like 1-2 miles every few days. Then I ran a 5k in my neighborhood that took 34 minutes. Fast forward several months after that, and I ran a 25:24 5k (8:12 mile splits). Then a few months later I ran a 10k at 1:06.

It’s been a year now and my 1 mile time is 6:31 as of late 2022. My 10k time is a 58:27. Waiting to test my new 5k. Probably in the 23 range now.

The point here is this: don’t kill yourself trying to hit certain numbers out the gate. You’ll surpass them anyway and they’ll mean nothing. So don’t get hurt trying to run a 30 minute 5k when you’ll eventually crush that with consistency. Running is a sport of consistency, think long term.

Just last month I was doing about 1-2 miles, now I’m able to do 4-5. I’m 209lb, 5 lb loss since last month. I do 60 minutes cardio, I was building up my running for 5-7 minutes each 15 minutes, now it’s gotten easy for me but I do 5 minute walk warm up, then 10 minutes of running, 5 at 5.5mph then 5 at 7mph. So far pretty good, helps me alot I love the run.

I’m 36, smoke a pack a day, and started running a single mile like 2-4 days per week about a month ago. Started doing 2 miles per run just the other day. I run around my little town, and a couple decently long stretches are a decent amount uphill. I ran a 17:45 and I was dry heaving at the end!! 😂😂

If you are already an athlete, you will most likely be doing at least 21 a week or 3 miles a day, as a lacrosse player in highschool and now in the army, I rarely went a week without doing 20-30 miles a week. I am now a hybrid athlete. It’s based on your build up, start at 5 miles a week, 1 mile for 5 days, then build, 7 miles (1 per each day, then 10, 2 for 5 days and so on, hope this helps.

I play football and while playing I can easily run for long time, but on tracks I get tired very easily. Can anyone explain this?

This guy is a good runner. 6:30 average mile for a marathon. Hard to keep that pace.

i started running a few weeks ago with run walk intervals, and let’s just say- it’s couch potato to running, so not very far. but i go about 1.7 miles a day 5 times a week, and here is what i noticed:
nothing much happened for the first week or two, but now, i don’t run for much longer, but my breaks are a fourth of the time they were, and i dread it a lot less

And on the days you’re not running, hit the stair master, or walk on the incline treadmill. 30 mins

So glad I started with walking 1 hr a day, then walk run to stay in zone 2, now I am able to run 5 miles in 1 hr. Even now I feel like my run are like jogging.
