Muslim community fearful after ‘targeted killings’ of four men in New Mexico

Back-to-back killings of four men have stoked fear among Albuquerque’s tight-knit Muslim community. Officials say there is a ‘strong possibility’ the victims were targeted because of their race and religion.

Allah سبحانه وتعالى said,

وَمَن يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَاؤُهُ جَهَنَّمُ خَالِدًا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُ عَذَابًا عَظِيمًا
And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Jahannam (Hell-Fire) to abide therein; and the Wrath and the Curse of Allah are upon him, and a great punishment is prepared for him. [An-Nisaa' 4:93]

إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا فَأُولَـٰئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ حَسَنَاتٍ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds; for those, Allah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

وَمَن تَابَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَإِنَّهُ يَتُوبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَتَابًا
And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds; then verily, he repents towards Allah with true repentance. [Al-Furqaan 25:70-71]

وَلَيْسَتِ التَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ إِنِّي تُبْتُ الْآنَ وَلَا الَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ ۚ أُولَـٰئِكَ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
And of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil deeds until death faces one of them and he says: "Now I repent;" nor of those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful torment. [An-Nisaa' 4:18]

As a patriot Pakistani, I strongly condemn such violent face of new mexico which showed the proof that they retented themselves as horrendous place for peace and pledged to further estrange themselves from such a society where descriminatory practices come to an end.

Zulm (oppression, injustice, wrong-doing) is of three types. And Islam forbids all of them.


1. Zulm against one's own Nafs (self, soul).

2. Zulm against the creation.

3. Zulm that is directed against Allah ﷻ.

On the Day of Judgement, the oppression against your own self and the created beings, will be forgiven. But what will not be forgiven is injustice against Allah ﷻ i.e polytheism, atheism and disbelief in the Afterlife like saying you will turn to dust and vanish into non-existence.


Narrated Anas Ibn Malik رضي الله عنه that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

الظُّلْمُ ثَلاثَةٌ

"Zulm (Oppression) is of three types:

فَظُلْمٌ لَا يَغْفِرُهُ اللَّهُ
1) Oppression that Allah does not forgive,

وظلم يغفره الله
2) Oppression that Allah does forgive,


وَظُلْمٌ لا يَتْرُكُهُ اللَّهُ
3) And Oppression that Allah does not ignore. [¹]


فَأَمَّا الظُّلْمُ الَّذِي لا يَغْفِرُهُ اللَّهُ فَالشِّرْكُ، وَقال اللَّهُ
As for the oppression that He does not forgive, then that is Shirk (polytheism), as Allah ﷻ says:

﴿إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ﴾
"Verily Shirk (polytheism) is a great Zulm (oppression, wrong-doing)..." [Luqmaan 31:13].

وَأَمَّا الظُّلْمُ الَّذِي يَغْفِرُهُ اللَّهُ فَظُلْمُ الْعِبَادِ لأَنْفُسِهِمْ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ رَبِّهِمْ
And as for the Zulm (oppression) that He forgives, then this is the Zulm (oppression) of the servants of their own selves in what is between them and their Lord.

وَأَمَّا الظُّلْمُ الَّذِي لا يَتْرُكُهُ اللَّهُ فَظُلْمُ الْعِبَادِ بَعْضِهِمْ بَعْضًا حَتَّى يَدِينَ لِبَعْضِهِمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ
And as for the Zulm (oppression) that Allah does not ignore, then this is the Zulm (oppression) of the servants to each other until they work it out between themselves."

[¹] Means, Allah does not ignore it if the oppressed was patient with it until the oppressed is rewarded for what he has suffered.

Or that Allah does not ignore it until the oppressed has received justice.
