Having your child try both caffeine chocolate and alcoholic chocolate in one sitting is such a dad move

Also, we don’t actually mix the drink, we eat it straight out of the packet😌

Waldmeister is a plant that is called woodruff or sweet woodruff in english. It is used as a medicinal plant in Europe, especially in German-speaking countries. Woodruff is also frequently used as a flavor, but in this case an artificial flavoring agent is used most of the time. The Latin name is Galium odoratum or Asperula odorata, but the last one rather refers to the blossom of the plant.

Knoppers is the most amazing thing ever! Also it’s a test for someone’s “gernan-ness”
If you ask them “What is at half past nine in the morning in Germany?” And if their answer isn’t “Knoppers” you have a spy in front of you and he should be dealt with accordingly (no Knoppers for him)

Nobody makes a drink out of the Brausepulver. Everyone links their finger and dips it in the packet

Knusper Flocken are my favorites. It comes from East Germany when Germany was still divided into two. Since we didn't have enough of everything in Eastern Germany, the chocolate was stretched by adding crispbread. This is what came out of it <3

Schlumpf means Smurf and Waldmeister is Woodruff.

Scho-ka-kola is a dangerous treat. You take one when watching a movie at night. Then another one. Then you think a third one of these delicious little Luftwaffe-treats can’t hurt. Then the can is empty. Then it’s 4:55AM, you have been staring at your bedroom ceiling all night, 120 bpm resting heart rate.
Worth it.

Waldmeister is woodruff. In Germany you can get different woodruff flavoured stuff like sirup, ice cream, hard candies, etc.

I love how you pronounce Knoppers or Knusper Flocken in English. 😅 I never thought of that. Too cute.

Try it with an audible "K" like in Kelloggs. That's how we pronounce it in Germany. Wonderful video! Brightens up my day

I'm just a few minutes in, but I love the way you interact with your son. It's great that you let your son verbalise his first impressions and help him form deeper introspections. It practices his independence, associations, and reflective skills :) You seem to be a good dad

Bambina and Knusperflocken (crunchy flakes) are products from the former GDR. You should try Toffifee, my favorite sweets.
