Berlin, the capital of Germany has a vibrant food culture. In this 3 part series we’re hunting down the best local German food and eating where the locals eat. In this video we’re eating some traditional German food at a butcher shop and finishing the day at a beer garden.

Beer at Prater Beer Garden, Kastanienallee 7-9, 10435 Berlin, Germany. Open daily, 12:00pm to midnight.

This video might be 3 months old, but I just wanted to note that Boulette is usually done half pork half beef, sometimes even just pure pork. We tend to mix a little white bread (usually brötchen) into the raw meet to make it a bit more airy and "bind" it together. A lot of people put some onions in there, too. The crust usually is just burnt mustard, haha.

I'm originally from Berlin, lived there for 48y, now I live in Lower-Saxony, my to-die-for regional comfort food is Pellkartoffeln with Quark + Leinöl or Blutwurst with Sauerkraut like my late mom used to make it.
