Before you get a Belgian Malinois there are many things to consider. Among them is the fact that Belgian Malinois are an extremely energetic and athletic breed. Even if you are looking for a lower drive Malinois, you can count on them requiring more mental and physical exercise than your average dog breed. In this video, "Before you get a Belgian Malinois" I break down the 5 most important things to consider before you get a Belgian Malinois.

I got a Malinois female puppy about 3 months ago. I agree with everything she says. We are dong great now, but the first two-three weeks were crazy. It was like I invited a coyote into my home.

I have a mixed Pit and Malinois I got him at 28 days old for free! He is so gorgeous, has physical features of both, is multi colored. 55lbs at six months old. Smart, strong and very protective. I couldn't figure out why such a temper until I figured out what breed his father was.( mother of course pit ) He is hyper emotional and very involved in every day activities, The bathroom comment is absolutely spot on. I live in an very rural place which is perfect for him. I am so glad I have finally figured out his breed, it has answered so, so many questions. Awesome video! THANKS!!!

Haha. That growl made me laugh. Sounded exactly like my boy Kaiser. The table thing too. kaiser thinks standing on my coffee table and blocking the TV will get me to play. God I love him.

If I were a young man again. I would have one if these dogs. But being nearly 76 years old, I don't have what it takes to own one
They are beautiful dogs. But they require hours and hours of exercise and training. I will just settle to have my golden retriever.

I really appreciate the 100% honesty about the higher requirements for successfully owning a good and happy Malinois. I'm wanting a Malinois for my future dog so I'm happy you have this channel where I can get lots of needed information. 👍😁

There really is no perfect time in life to get a Mal. Young, no $. There's college, work, kids, restricted time. Retirement, it might be harder if you have arthritis or you'll wish you were younger and a bit less easily tired.

I have no idea what waiting for the right time is. Life is short. If you want this badly enough you will find a way to work it out. I haven't had a mal at this point. I had a working kelpie. He was one of the "easier" kelpies and he was always ready to go! And super people and task oriented. LOVED him! I worked my life around him, and he was worth it!

And thanks for saying be honest with the breeder about what you want, because a lot of people hate anyone who aren't going into every bitesport known to humanity.

Number 2 is a FACT. I have two Belgians. A female and a male. The amount of money I've spent on them in this first year that I've had them totals over $15, 000.
Purchase of the pups: female $2200 male $3250 = $5450
Training: $2800 x 2 = $5600
Impact (escape proof crates) = $1100 x 2 = $2200
High quality food, per month = $150-$200 per month
**There are other expenses, like vet visits
Point: if you are going to provide the best for this breed, the expense doesn't stop at the purchase of the pup. Also, you cannot just treat this breed like a family pet as far as the constant attention...they require a ton of your time...you can't just shuuu them away. Boundaries, routine, structure and time is going to be consistently required of the owner.

All that said: my two mals are the best two dogs I've ever owned...their intelligence and loyalty is unmatched. Being a mal owner is so so so rewarding.

There are also mals in shelters and rescues who need homes. Lots of people give these dogs up because of the reasons covered in this video. We adopted and our girl is wonderful. Same issues and needs as discussed here but no less a joy. ❤.

So true that it’s a full time job. A toddler with claws and teeth lol. I got my Mal from a rescue and had no idea what he was was. Luckily I have the time and commitment.

The same that this lady is voicing on a Mali is applicable to a Dobermann with Drive - 47 years of owning Dobes and everything follows ...Consistency, Training, Exercise , Repetition.... repeat over and over again .... Oh and as the lady says don’t feed them xxxx - feed my dogs on Raw / Natural food Video I’ll drop back to time 🇬🇧😁

I have a Male mix of Tornjak and German Shepherd.
Female pure Tornjak ( with Blue eyes 🥰 ).
Now I would love to Get a Belgium Malinois Boarder Collie or Cro Shepherd
I know they are good with people and kids!!
And I have 20+ sheep and end up going out with them for 4 hours minimum.
