I think they released this because they’re getting ready to discontinue the iPad 9th gen. With that, they’ll probably be discontinuing the first gen Apple Pencil too.

I would rather have the 2nd gen with wireless charging and pressure sensitivity. With that said, I am still rocking the 1st gen with my 1st gen 12.9” iPad Pro that I used to illustrate two board games and many various designs with. It is still working well but I do use it less now that my work has shifted more to software engineering.

now it does the exact same thing as a $20 stylus/pencil from a 3rd party. For the price of $79....

At this price a lot of people are still gonna buy knock offs for 20 quid. Or, buy this, realise it has no pressure sensitivity for drawing and then buy a second pencil

I love how the "inexpensive" Apple Pencil is $80. Something that should cost no more than $25.

Apple is going to become like windows where people will think they are horrible cause they buy a cheaper version. What happened to Apple being the premium brand

The pressure sensitivity is literally the only reason it's different than a regular stylus. You are too generous sir, calling the charging port a "hidden" feature, and that a featureless stylus is cheap at $79 😂
