One of the most fascinating studies in what happens when a boxer takes a few kicks. In this challenge match, Taiwanese boxing celebrity Nicky Pan goes to a Muay Thai gym to try his luck sparring a very good Muay Thai fighter. Let's see how many kicks this boxer can take before he inevitably slows down and his boxing ability starts looking similar to the Nak Muay's. Also, shoutout to the Muay Thai gym too for giving us this amazing case study! To anyone that knows the Muay Thai gym or Nick Pan, please let us know! 尼克星,有时间我采访一下你! Commentating are Jerry, Alex, and Adil.

Bro that muay thai guy was outboxing the boxer because the boxer got too concerned about the kicks and let his guard down. Those thai fighters are in a league of their own. Also im not sure if u guys noticed but the second round is just boxing. U can tell immediately because they didnt have the shin guards anymore

Muay Thai guy is being nice, that leg was open the entire fight but chose to box and throw a few kicks 😂

My 2 cents as a Pure Boxer,

Unfortunately when this comes up, (Boxer vs KickBoxer) instead of leaning into our strengths we forget our basics and try new weird things like "trying to catch the kick" or "going under a kick as if it was a hook" or worst one is "just take the kick and see how much it hurts".

IF this was really a Boxer vs KickBoxer type scenario they need to rely more on their angles, Getting in and out of range, Circling, Setting up shots and REALLY Popping the Jab.

Doesn't seem like they are on the same level. Muay Thai guy clearly has a lot of experience and is a professional fighter. The boxer looks like a hobbyist to me, not saying he's terrible but he's clearly not on the professional level of the Muay Thai guy.

I've trained both boxing and kickboxing competitively. I've found that a "feeling out round" has a high likelihood of getting my lead leg smashed or my ribs crushed. If you are a boxer, apply pressure. Do not allow a superior kicker to get into a comfortable range. High guard, stalk them, corner them, flurry, body shots, and mix in some leg kicks. I've been able to out-skill "superior kickboxers" to myself because I wouldn't allow them to play their game.

Love it when boxers challenge themselves. I've always thought it would be cool if boxers beat Muay Thai fighters by using pure boxing, like the old style vs style matches

I'm a boxer who's been training mma for 6 months, I adjusted to blocking kicks quite quickly. My main issue was getting spammed with thigh kicks to my lead leg 🤣

The boxers name is Nick Pan
He's a YouTuber in Taiwan
He is famous for copying Tony Jeffries videos and got exposed recently
His response was also quite legendary
First apology denying it
Second apology saying he only extracted highlights
Third apology saying he already apologized twice so ppl should move on

Interesting matchup. The second round maybe was boxing only. If the muay thai dude kept kicking it would have been a very easy win.
Imho either that muay guy trains his hands a lot in his gym or maybe he cross trains in boxing, because his boxing was crisp and outperformed the boxer for basically the entirety of the fight.
Regarding your last question, I guess that if each kick is thrown and landed at full power (something the thai guy can do at leisure, since he knows the boxer has no response for them), that small amount of kicks might be able to take the wind out of the boxer or make his legs hurt enough so that it weakens his punches as you said.

You don't often see a lot of good striking on this channel, particularly from both combatants. Both dudes were solid. Entertaining fight.

Second round was only boxing. The shin guards were off.

Commentary failed to mention the fact that they took off their shin guards in the second round and seemed to agree to just box instead.

Muay Thai fighters can develop amazing hands thanks to his Muay Thai training from a really young age, many Muay Thai fighter have better hands than most boxer, and a Muay Thai fighter can defeat boxers in boxing rules

Muay Thai is the most complete stand up martial arts in the world....Imagine clinching, elbows and knees being allowed against a boxer. Sambo and Judo are the most complete grappling martial arts as well, Sambo is pretty much all forms of wrestling in 1 and Judo is Jiu Jitsu with takedowns involved. Jiu Jitsu was created from Judo

From my experience sparring boxers (Muay Thai base then changed to boxing and mma striking), once kicks are involved it really messes up their striking distance and it makes them super hard to adjust to fighting longer

You can see the boxer constantly on edge for the kicks. Really goes to show how important it is to train for different things. He is not used to facing against someone that kicks

Both men showed great restraint, they were both going light and very respectful. Being a boxing enthusiast myself, i must say, the boxer would get murked if they were going at it for real.
