One of the most fascinating studies in what happens when a boxer takes on a kickboxer who has a style of kickboxing very different than your standard Muay Thai or Dutch-style. In this dojo challenge match, Taiwanese boxer Xiao Pan aka @BOXPAN goes to seek out a sparring session with One Championship veteran Florian Garel. Florian's striking is Karate and Savate based. Xiao Pan tries his luck sticking to only boxing while enduring the crazy kick combinations of Florian's savate. Let's see the beauty of savate style kickboxing as well as appreciate what Xiao Pan did correctly with boxing! Leave your comments below and let me know what you saw and what you want to see next!

That savate dude is stupidly skilled at kicking, that was beautifull to watch. Almost like a freaking videogame character. That low kick near the end that almost swept the boxer is actually more of a leg pull it seems, using the foot. Super f'ing cool man.

Most Savate kicks are designed to be done wearing shoes . They pop you with the hard toe or heel in a whip like fashion so it hurts a lot more than it might look like. They pick very precise targets. It's a great art to study on it's own or as a supplement to what you already do.

I did a little Savate in my twenties. Was a lot of fun, but this Savate guy is a true master. Our teacher always told us Savate is like fencing with legs and fists. Watching this video, I see what he meant. The moves are so fluent. Awesome to watch, thanks for this video and commentary 🙏

The Savat guys name is Florian Garel. He’s trained in Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Kyokushin karate and some other stuff. Met him in Taiwan years back. It was a nice surprise to see him featured here. Super nice guy.

This felt like a Tekken practice mode match.

You can see why Bruce Lee loved Savate so much & the influence it had on him as a martial artist

What’s amazing is his control. His ability to pull his kicks, his spinning kicks! His balance and vision. Wow.

People I spar with don't expect my kicks to be as fast and accurate as they are. I kick like that because of Savate. I learned a little bit of it 23 years ago and it's still there to this day. It's truly a legit, underrated fight style.

0:58 - the most deadly technique is not realized. The last kick was a toe kick to the ribs/liver. I remember training Savate and those sneaky kicks was a pain to deal with. They come from nowhere! Sometimes it looks a normal roundhouse kick and they switch to those precise point kicks. That was devastating.

definitely the best savate demonstrations i've ever seen as well. i just thought it was an old fashion thing, but no it's apparently very fight ready.

The savate techniques I see here are very similar to the taekwondo I was taught 15 years ago! I love it!

I am long time Savateur, I started in France in 1990 and then in italy where I won a Savate coaches tournament in 1998. I still train in Savate even though I mainly trained in Muay Thai and Kickboxing, but I use a lot of my Savate kicking techniques in Muay Thai and it works so well as it confuses the opponenet quite much!

I'm at the gym watching this and I'm about to practice Savate and Muay Thai. I gotta say that Savate is probably the most effective martial art for the streets.

Great "assaut" (light-touch sparring). That Florian Garel sure is good! Beautiful demonstration of the variety of Savate kicks. Thanks for shedding light on our sport.

I always loved Savate, very quick and elusive kicking method.

One of the better boxer vs kicker matches was Ray Mercer vs Musashi - one of the best K1 fights ever. There was a much better skill level parallel between the two there, and Mercer put up a REALLY good fight.
