New Skins in Minecraft
Bringing natural diversity and representation to the game, Minecraft has added 7 new default character skins.

Hanging Signs in Minecraft
Craftable by combining chains and signs, hanging signs are going to be a part of Minecraft. You can place them on the side and even the bottom of the blocks.

Bamboo Wood and Rafts are Here
We are getting a new family of wood in Minecraft featuring their own planks, blocks, and more. You can also use bamboo wood to craft rafts in the game. They work just like boats in Minecraft but are more open looking in appearance.

Chiseled Bookshelf
After crafting a chiseled bookshelf, you can store regular and enchanted books in them. They also interact with the Redstone components

Camels
Camels will be coming to minecraft 1.20! These desert creatures will be able to hold two players. They are also capable of speed boosts and leaping a great distance.

Minecraft 1.20 is going to bring 100% more camels into the Overworld! We will also be getting hanging signs, functional bookshelves and craftable bamboo, and all four features will be available in Java Snapshots and Bedrock Betas shortly! Agnes, Chi, and Nir share their inspiration for the upcoming update and deliver a first look demo. WHY DID MOJANG DO THIS??? Minecraft 1.20 & Minecraft Live 2022

It caught me off-guard, but it's the most mature and positive way forward for Mojang. Under-promise and over-deliver is what they're going for this time, rather than over-promise and under-deliver. When they give us a name and theme right off the bat, it drives people crazy, making them feel like the update needs to have X Y and Z to be perfect or it won't meet the potential of the theme, but by leaving it open, they prevent that kind of toxicity and disappointment. I love that we only have to wait a few days for snapshots rather than several months, as it's far more amazing to discover new features when you boot up a weekly snapshot then it is to know all the features already. Interested to see how this pans out.

This approach is pretty much game development 101. Developers will make many ideas, but most of them will be thrown out before they are revealed. The remaining ideas come together to form a general theme, and every other idea and iteration is made to make that theme more refined, resulting in more fleshed-out gameplay that then gets a name. Most titles and updates other than Minecraft are those that are announced once they are finished, with little to no struggle on certain concepts, so having individual features reflecting this will eliminate frustration when certain ideas are inevitably not included, and will allow more iterations and new ideas to be based on direct communication from the community, ensuring that there will a satisfying update. It may not be bombastic or flashy for announcements, but it's a very strong method for the game in the long run.

As events go, this MC live was a mixed bag. Big stuff for legends, and some cool features for the game. As Minecraft update potential, this is huge. An update where they will just have lots of cool stuff and we don't even know until its in sounds insane. Also can they PLEASE fix the backlog of promised features; archeology, birch forest, bundles, ect

I feel like as a community we should push for the warmer biomes update. Because we have camels, bamboo wood And rafts all ready. Or if they don’t want to make it about the biomes they can just add more features that relate to warmer climates for “inclusion”.

Personally I really like the direction that mojang is taking with their development here. Underpromising is better than overpromising for the long run and working more to make sure that mojang and players are on the same page moving forward is really important

I honestly feel like there wasn’t enough added and there were missed opportunities. It seems that they spent way too much time on Legends. The desert update would fit perfectly with this, and I feel like it was underwhelming for Minecraft live. Although, I get that they want to be 100% sure that they will add something before promising it.

I think they wanted to not name it and show less things because of how we reacted last year with the bundles and birch forest, but to be honest i loved the art they showed last year!

I like this direction, no expectations are built then toppled, and there's loads of potential to drive the update into something big. I hope we get an End Overhaul soon, though.

Diversity Update? Idk but I LOVE this new idea of not showing a ton because it leaves tons of surprises for the months to come. Super excited!

Regardless of opinions the idea of an "community driven" update has massive potential and is something I want to see expanded upon although to a much better degree.

While I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a "name ' or gave us an idea of what is to come I do understand why they did it this way. I'm really looking forward to the new bookshelves and the camels look cool. I don't particularly like the texture of the bamboo blocks but I am happy that we can do something new with it. I have a small feeling that they may do something with the desert but who knows 🤷. I can't wait to see what else they have in store

I think this minecraft live was great. While I agree they could show more, I understand why they limited the content to things they know will make the deadline. I remember being disappointed last year because they couldn't bring everything they promised. Glad they're trying to prevent that from happening again for the good of both parties involved. Their theme is great as well.

If they're adding camels maybe the update is for the desert and we'll see 2 wood sets instead of just the 1, instead of just a bamboo set we'll also have a palm tree wood set too? I won't lie I was a little bit disappointed we didn't get to see if there was going to be a biome vote as I definitely would have voted for the desert, but the bamboo wood type, the camels and interactive book shelves do sound great even if this update sounds a little thin in regards to content.

ok here me out. I think it's very wholesome that they added new default skins, but you can litterally edit and customize it for free and change the hair gender and skin color ect. I bet you besides that cloths I could create near replicas of the new ones they added in under ten minutes so umm yeah.

It was very disappointing for me, however it does make me more exited for the update as they didn't announce all the features with maybe 1 or 2 things we didn't know about. And it makes me more exited for the snapshots, too as we do not know what they are going to add.

I wonder if we’ll finally get cauldron parity. The ability to dye armor various colors is an interesting form of self expression.
