I love your appreciation for history Bob. A trip to the top of the Sweetgrass hills would make a great video by drone. I suspect the tops are quite different topography and flora than the surrounding prairie! God bless your family!

Thanks for another awesome video Welkers. It was interesting and enjoyable to watch.

Thanks to Bob for the history lesson on the original settlement of the land they now farm. Bob took us back a lot of years ago and that was really cool.
Interesting there still are some pieces of the original settlement left to include the
Thanks Bob for sharing with us the history of your farm.

Glad you were able to get Scott’s seeder going again with a tire change. Looks like Bob and Scott were able to finish up the seeding of the winter wheat. Believe you said 3500 acres. Good going Welkers.
Looking forward to a good crop for 2025.

Your grain vac really sucks up the grain in a quick hurry. Didn’t take long to fill the trucks and empty the bins. Another job done. Yeah.

Enjoy some time off all of you. Been a real busy fall.
With my blessings always. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

Thank you for putting the date in the video. Finally someone who does that. Keeps chronological order and most importantly where we are in real time.
Enjoy your vacation!

I love homestead stories. My great grandfather homesteaded two plots which share a boundary in eastern Idaho, overlooking the Teton Mountains. The homestead is not any good for farming (too many steep hills), but great for running cattle in the summer. I visited it two summers ago and my family is still running cattle on the land. My great grandfather’s second wood cabin is still standing (one could not live in it, but it would still give you a bit of shelter in a severe winter storm).

I like your talking about the two seat outhouse lying on its side. I grew up in Central Minnesota ha ha dairy hog and chicken farm, with a two seater house. We had an indoor toilet in the basement, and we were allowed to use it when it was below zero. But even at 10° that was a cold trip to the old house now. If we have to pee in the middle of the night, when there was snow on the ground, we had to walk around the south side of the house, or nobody would see it if they come to the door.

Hi Welker family, Rod from Brisbane, Queensland, it is 40 years this year since I came to Fort Benton as 21yr old on an Ag exchange for a year. Experience of a lifetime. I have been calling my olds friends George and Elinor every couple of months for 40 years. Went back to see them 14 years ago. Enjoy your videos immensely. Fantastic part of the U.S.

Listening to a little bit of the history of the farm and family was enjoyable. It stuck with me, the fortitude to make it work and thrive under those conditions. I do believe that it gets handed down from generation to generation. It explains the work ethic and the desire to succeed. It’s folks like you guys that I be enjoy seeing being successful. Best of luck with the winter wheat crop. I hope your family’s gamble pays off big time come harvest season !!
