Stress before surgery: what happens?

Mental stress before surgery can cause real, physical complications. This is because of the powerful mind-body connection. hormones, your sympathetic nervous system, and other mediators cause physical damage when we are overly stressed out, or even too anxious.

In this video I discuss how pain, hysteria, and even nausea can result from too much stress before surgery and anesthesia.

Mental health matters!

This has been huge on my mind. I’m having an operation that I don’t want to have but need… and I’ve been very depressed over this. I have two months to prepare and watching your videos have helped some!

You are phenomenal at what you do. I am so happy I came across you over two years ago. I went for 20yrs on Ativan @ 4-6mg a day, because of you I am now at 2mg. You have a very special place in this world and what you are doing is so humbling. 🙏🏼

You are so Amazing. Thank you 😊 now I truly understand my issues after surgery. 20 plus ➕️ surgeries and I've NEVER been told this.

That is so me! I woke up crying after surgery! They asked me if I was in pain, and I remember telling them while sobbing “no, but I don’t know why I am crying?!” And they told me anesthesia can affect people that way. This makes perfect sense because I was so very scared and it was my first surgery ever.

I have a question. I was in a coma in December for encephalitis, I also have a bad inoperable back disorder. My question is why do they medicate with fentanyl while we're in a coma? That makes no sense to me, I'm not going to know I'm hurting heck I didn't even know I was in the world besides the vivid dreams. Thanks I love you shows

Well, I think it depends on the procedure and what anesthesia is used .

The fist time I was put under when I woke up I felt like I couldn't breathe for a minute. I was gasping for air and none of the nurses seemed to care. Is this normal? I've been put under a few times since and no issues at all.
