Anxiety affects many parts of surgery and anesthesia. It can have impacts on medications used in surgery and anesthesia, in particular when anxiety is generalized and medications are used chronically for anxiety or depression. It's always important to tell your doctor what medications you take so they can give you the right anesthesia medications, techniques, and doses.

I'm a rape survivor, and for yrs after, when I had surgery, I would wake up confused and scared. So after the 1st time it happened, my hubby and I would each talk to the anesthesiologist and nurses to let them know, and they would have him come back to be with me as I awoke. They were all very supportive. ❤️

I just had 2 hour dislocated ring finger a posterior tendon repair plus boxers fracture with a screw placement and pin. No sedation etc Just lots of numbing meds that lasted 8 hrs. Blood pressure stayed normal and heart rate plus I even dozed off. I can’t believe I did it

I wonder if that's why they gave me midazolam before my last surgery. Or is that always normal to have before surgery?
