I have buy a small laptop for my daughter, installed LMDE 4, everything working at the first boot... Clean desktop, the Mint team have done a really good job with this...

I appreciate that you showed the software store where you can download programs with one click. Using apt to download and install packages can be intimidating for new users. You show that you don't have to be a genius to use Linux.

These are the type of Video's that new users really need, Good work keep it up. With these types of vids it really helps Old windows users make the switch and learn that in general Linux is really easy to use. 10 years ago not so much now it's much easier. And this also takes the scare out of it.

Ummm, this isn't really a Windows 10 to Linux mint if you are doing the video whilst in Linux, downloading with and to Linux, surely?? Also, I'm a tad lost in the first few minutes as a consequence, and also like many knowledgable people, Chris uses shortcuts that happen in a blink, and other processes because he knows them and it's automatic, whereas newbies are still thinking about and trying to absorb 3 or more minutes back lol.
Still, one of the brilliant things about YouTube is you can replay it again and again until you get what is going on. It's a pisser watching these at it pushes home how dumb I am tech wise.

I think Linux Mint is a great distro for someone switching from windows to linux and for the enthusiast even. I'll explain; for the enthusiast since its debian based and has tons of software for someone to build up from the initial installation and as they learn and grow in knowledge of the system the software is there waiting on them, of course the enthusiast already knows what they want so the software is there for them to build their distro up.

It’s crazy, I recently jumped head first into Linux with an old Thinkpad and I could not figure out for the life of me why it wouldn’t properly install. After looking around I found this video and BOOM all it needed was a legacy boot like you said…3 years later you’re still saving people like me a massive headache. Bravo bro bravo

Just put Linux Cinnamon Mint onto a Lenovo G700. It absolutely flies, Win10 was so rubbish and slow. I had previously put it on a Dell Inspiron which basically refurbed an old PC to make it usable. Great stuff Chris, saves me a fortune on hardware.

Chris. I just wanted to say thank you. At the start of this year I had no choice but to give up my much loved Windows 7 but you gave me another option; Linux Mint. This has been a great OS for me, does everything I need with little overheads so it makes the most of my meagre hardware. Having a sleek and easy to use OS has been a godsend during this crisis.
