• Make sure that you know which type of BIOS you got (Legacy or UEFI)
• If Legacy, check if the Distro that you downloaded supports Old/Legacy BIOS.
• Some distro requires you to disable Secure Boot, CSM (Support for old OS, select disabled, to make sure you are using UEFI only), and many other options (depends on distro)

Two additional tipps:
1. The Fedora Image Writer can write any Linux iso asnd works on all systems and is open source
2. When you use Windows, you can hold the "Shift" Key while clicking on reboot and it'll offer you to boot from an USB stick. Much easier than going through the BIOS. You can boot into the bios from there as well.

So I did a clean install of Pop os on my old desktop because the hard drive was full. Pop just returns error messages whenever I try to update the system or install apps. All I can do is look at pics and browse the web on it. Is it possible to install a different distro like Mint now that Windows is gone? If so, how please?
