Finally a solution that works! I had a leaking hot water Roman tub valve that was cemented to the valve body and would not budge. Not wanting to remove the entire valve body, I put a little plumbing tape around the valve body stem & threaded the flange back on a little bit. This created a nice cup around the stuck valve. Poured in the CLR around the stem (and into the screw hole like you suggested in one of your reply comments) & left it to soak for 30 minutes. I tapped the stem a few times during the soak. After 30 minutes, I removed the flange, wiped up the CLR, & valve looked new! Lol. Was able to remove the previously cemented valve with the channel locks. Excellent post! Thanks so much.

THanks for the video. Good info. I do want to say that Kohler has a lifetime warranty as well. If you just need the cartridges they'll send them out free. If you need the whole valve assembly, they'll send that. They'll talk consumers through installation if you're game. They had a dedicated line for plumbers so they don't have to waiut on hold as long.

Great video. Was thinking CLR as i was trying to get mine apart. Its like welded on there. I was soooo trying to not take the whole thing out., i remember how horrible it was trying to get that great big nut tight under the sink with no room for anything to get in there.

Thanks so much for this video. I have a Phylrich faucet where it was difficult to remove the cartridge. Your video demystified the process. In this case I didn't have to use CLR, I placed the unit in a vise and cranked on it and it came free with not a massive amount of effort. I'm soaking the brass faucet parts in vinegar solution to remove corrosion. Question: I have a replacement cartridge but is it possible to free up stuck cartridges via soaking in a solution or just better to replace overall?

Regarding the higher end faucets, I understand what you mean about switching to Delta. My house was built with high end items but it seems when you need to maintain them, they are expensive and a pain. Kind of like the difference between owning a Honda via a BMW.

Can I use clr on a stuck plastic Moen Cartridge? I can’t get it out, every dang sink is super stubborn. They are all the plastic white cartridges. Any ideas? My friend who is a plumber even tried, he was pressed for time because he was doing me a favor on another issue, he said just get a new faucet. But I really didn’t want to do all that. Please help!

Any suggestions if I can't get the center cartridge screw out? It turns and turns but will not come out and the cartridge is stuck.

This is exactly what I need today. Thank you so much. The plumber came and said he had no idea how to get the handle off..I called Kohler for help. Plumber said he would have to cut through my wall to get to pipes and also cut out my tile. I said forget it. He went in basement to put a shutoff valve to stop water from running and charged $425 but would not talk to Kohler on how to take hot water handle off .I put vinegar on the part to get the handle off and now I am stuck at the cartridge not being able to remove it. Kohler sent pieces for replacement for free but I cannot get cartridge out. I am going to get the CLR but which one is it?

I can't remove the cartridge from a Brizo single-handle shower faucet...any ideas? A plumber tried and his only solution was to use a saws-all to cut it off. It may damage the unit, which I don't want to do.

Knipex rules! But try extra deep sockets as well.

But won't the CLR get into your water next time you turn on the faucet?
