That is why you don't want to get too comfortable with anyone right away. Even if you come across people who seem to be nice, be careful not to be so quick to be comfortable with them and don't be so quick to start hanging out with them, especially if you meet them in school and/or work environments. Take your time to get to know them at least maybe a few years or more before you allow yourself to be close to them and start hanging out and keep in mind, they can turn around and show a totally different personality all of a sudden.

Narcissists... they're everywhere, unfortunately. I remember when I could go out, see all kinds of nice people, and run into the occasional jerk.
