As someone who developed a disability due to non-behavioural factors, I wish people would understand that you aren't fully in control of your own health. Way too many people like to assume that all disabled people did something to cause their own disability, or aren't doing enough to treat it, because they don't want to believe it could happen to them some day.

Epigenetics is an incredibly fascinating topic and I really hope to see more discussion on that.

Hopefully they do a few detailed episodes on epidemiology. That could be a series on it's own.

Didn’t know Vanessa joined this channel. She’s so well versed in Social Psychology.

I'm just going to say it. Love the One Piece reference plus Gus had skin cancer on his neck despite having no neck

I have a genetic disorder, so I got dealt “bad cards” from the start. But I try to find the positive; I’m one of the “lucky ones, ” who can advocate for those who can advocate for themselves. And learning about public health is one of the very many ways I try to learn more about not only my health, but how to community my disorder more clearly, by getting the bigger picture.

Fabulous! This video tells a lot about public health. I admire, the crash course whole team for creating informative videos and sharing them with everyone.

As a fellow Australian, I am surprised Vanessa didn’t mention the most crucial public health factor in Australia, even bigger than genetics and behaviour:

Every single spider, snake and bird in Australia tries to kill you.

I've heard of epigenetics a number of times before but this succinct description was the most helpful to me in understanding

I don't know about being a vegetable, but fermented and pickled foods are good for your digestion and gut biome. So pickles and the like are still good for you.

Every time your video buzzes I think it's my phone. Ugh.

In the world of Epigenetics, I swear, it seems not fair. We are all not equal when it comes to epigenetics because of the vulnerability by some diseases.
