When I came out to my 8 year old brother we were sitting on my couch. He smiled and said “what do you want me to call you?” I said Leo, and he stood up on the couch, patted me on the head, and said “I’m proud of you! You’re my favorite brother now! Wait... maybe that’s Nate... I don’t know if you’re my favorite brother but you’re close.”

My 8-year-old daughter understands it just as well. Kids aren't confused by transgender people. They completely get it.

Children really are more understanding than adults.

can we just appreciate the fact the girls took such a long time to even think of gender as the difference between the two?! I mean, being more huggable is clearly a top priority, but they basically put gender on the same level of importance as foot size. Learn from this, this is important.
