i hope this isn't weird to say, but i used to have that name (am trans myself) and... this is kind of lovely. i'm not one of those people who has an incredibly negative relationship with their old name, but it's still always felt a little weird to think of it still. but there's something about another trans person, and one whose work i greatly admire, using the name that gives me a great sense of joy: it is good to see someone else use it to embrace themselves, and love themselves. and i hope to be able to hear that name and think of your joy more than anything else.

Wow this is the first time that I’ve heard someone actually arguing for full uk medical and legal equality like this, I’m a trans man and I’d gotten so used to compromising in conversations about my own rights that this was very refreshing and inspiring. I was waiting for "God save the Queen" in the end of the video, or someone saying "This was Abigail Thorn, exlusively for the BBC." This is now my standard of "public statement".
