Republicans or Democrats: Who is better for the economy?

Looking at GDP growth and Wall Street growth under Democrats has been significantly more, but will either party be able to pass legislation to fix current issues?

When I was in college one of the first things I asked my economics professor was who is better for the economy Democrats or Republicans? He told me in perception it's the Republicans but when you look at the numbers it's actually the Democrats.

I was so shocked when I learned this. I spent 36 years as a Republican because I bought that line about the GOP being better at handling the economy. I did some fairly extensive research on economic history and was stunned. Democrats handle it better. Wow. Felt pretty bad about my lack of scholarship all those years.

With Trump and the GOP, we are in deep trouble. Trump inherited hundreds of millions, blew all that money, has run his businesses into the ground, and now has damaged our country in a way that will take many painful years to recover.

We deserve so much better than those narcissistic triggers in this White House. I'm heartbroken to see what Trump and his promotion of conspiracy theories, ignorance, and racism have done to us. We are so divided! He LOVES that. He wants us at each others' throats. Truly heartbreaking.

I got involved with a political party in High School. Basically what I learned was that there were a couple of men I knew - and probably several organizers I did not know - who were running the town - or wanted to run the area - and basically that I was an outsider. Furthermore, it is my opinion based on how I was treated that they did not want me around. Maybe they would push me off on something I did not like "because I was not important and in their view I was of no value." As nasty as people treated me - and I won't repeat some of what they tried and what they did to me - I don't know why I'd care that much about the OTHER party. There is a line of thought that Politics is Greed disguised as morality ... which may or may not be true. Basically I've attributed some of my difficulty to old discussions of PLATO and such and I believe basically that politics is limited in America... our leaders don't want
everyone participating in the process. So I live with this and am mostly interested in my personal health and continuing my education and academic study and earning what money I can. I have found that earning money has been my biggest issue and my most important objective. I will be careful, even if the Republicans or Democrats in America SEEM to do well and be good for the Economy, they can lie about you and take control of your life in frustrating and Machiavellian ways and basically your life and Economy can be ruined even when they are successful. I'd say that to actually participate in politics and be happy you might prefer to avoid it unless you are rich... and I mean really wealthy. Groups of people can really ruin your life. I know of one state where politicians actually were upset about the value of the Mathematical "PI" and passed a Law to change PI. This value is used in Engineering and other areas and it amazes me what Government can and will do on occasion. The big joke is when politicians try to tell you that your income and profits are not important. In America we have to stand up for ourselves when we can.

It is clear that the democrats usually have a better stock market but don’t vote for a politician for the economy. Looking at the numbers I do believe that a president has a small effect on the economy it just matters where it’s going. Vote for a candidate for social issues, not for the stock market
