No other actor could have played Tywin. The voice and facial expressions is just perfection

"Lord Tywin wore no crown, yet he was all a king should be."

I still have my mental image of what book Tywin looks like, but when I read his lines, I hear Charles Dance’s voice. That’s how perfect he was in this role.

I like how the story was told through stained glass

My favourite example of a literary character I cared little about, becoming one of my favourite live action characters. Perfect casting.

“I made an example of them”
One way of putting it, what a boss

“I made an example of them. To anyone who doubts our might.” Coming from Charles Dance, and knowing what kind of person Tywin is… chills 🥶

Tywin's last line here should have been cut off by Bronn snapping "Don't say it. Don't fooking say it". ;-)

One of my favorite bits was how Arya was the first (I believe) to weaponize the words of House Stark as the Lannisters already did. "A Lannister Always Pays His Debts" can be imagined to have first implied that they were wealthy and their credit could be trusted, at some time though it eventually was turned into a threat as well.

"Winter Is Coming" and "The North Remembers" have always been my favorite words because they emphasize how House Stark is different from all the other noble houses. "Hear Me Roar", "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken", "Growing Strong", "We Do Not Sow", "High As Honor"... These were all about bragging (with the one exception of House Tully: "Family, Duty, Honor" which more emphasizes marriage alliances and deal brokering).

"Winter Is Coming" and "The North Remembers" are not a threats though. They are the words of House Stark and The North, because they are the oldest House (of the Tier One houses anyway) and the oldest kingdom and they are the only house and kingdom which still remembers The Long Night and the Battle For The Dawn as something other than myth and legend (and therefore the white walkers as something which still represents a threat). To me they were the wisest words, even though nobody outside of The North understands the true meaning of the words.

So it used to mean that "Winter Is Coming"/"The North Remembers" served a vital point in carrying on House Stark and The North and The First Men as a whole, but those words meant nothing in the rest of Westeros... Until Arya: [after killing the entire Frey line] "When people ask you what happened here; tell them The North Remembers... Tell them Winter Came for House Frey." Arya turned the words of remembrance into a weapon along the lines of A Lannister Always Pays His Debts.

I feel like I was just listening to my grandfather reluctantly tell me a bedtime story and then turning it into a lesson 🙃

This could be a great opening scene for a Game Of Thrones RPG game

well said female line of Lann the clever, during the Andal invasion the Lannisters went extinct on the male line, and the last Lanister was a young Lady married to an Andal, he took the name Lannister and their babies continued the House
