Singer/songwriter Phil Collins felt that he was in The Alamo during the battle. Unfortunately, the old fort is surrounded by kitschy shops. When one of those shops was for sale, he bought one. He carried out an archeological dig under the floor of the shop. He found belt buckles, bullets and knives. Those shops are built on sacred ground. The relics Phil Collins found were donated to The Alamo along with other relics he bought from collectors.

We live near the Alamo, and my husband has a relative who fought and died at the Alamo. It is extremely haunted. Not in a bad way, just painful memories on both sides. The 1984 video on the Alamo with Billy Bob Thorton is a little noticed but great film with some actual speeches given according to historical accounts...

a long time ago, an Alamo tour guide told me the Alamo funeral pyres were where the Dillards department store is about a block away from the chapel

I've been to the Alamo. It was for a graduation present from Cisco Junior College in 1992.

The Disney version of the fight at the Alamo was very popular in 1957. I had the pleasure of visiting the Alamo at that age. I thought I was in Heaven. I was 10 years old at the time and from Georgia.

How would the battle have gone if Daniel Boone and his 500 long riflemen had made it to the Alamo?

In defending the Alamo the defenders killed many times their numbers. They were heroes.

I find it very hard to believe that over 600 Mexican troops fell at the Alamo. Many accounts state that the Mexican casualties were far lower.
