This is really weird !
Back in 1970 I had a 1967 VW Bug. Nice little Rear Engine 40hp 4 speed manual transmission car...ran great !
But, once it got stuck in 2nd gear and no matter what you did it would not shift out of 2nd. I found out from a VW mechanic friend about a small Inspection hole on that transmission that is you stuck a Flat Screwdriver and pried that gear just a little it would fix the problem ! Amazing that VW still has a similar Problem !
I currently have a 2002 VW Jetta TDI that was an Automatic Trans now converted to a 5 speed manual. 53mpg on my last 3500 mile trip. This Magnificent car has 330, 000 miles on it and it runs like a charm ! EGR Delete ! *FJB !*

My 92 toyo is doing this. its my only vehicle for work and kids. It wont go into gear wuen its on but moves freely wurn off. It used to just pop out sometimes ajd pr when cold it would get increasingly harder get into gear. I ised to he able to get it into gear slowly as ot heated when the problem forst presented but not its cpmtely like that

I am having the same exact problem with my 2012 scion XB. I changed the clutch Master and Slave Cylinder. The master was a major pain. I am still having this issue but it isnot all the time, sometimes it works great! Any Idea how I can do this on my 2012 Scion XB?

In my case, input gear wore out completely
I changed clutch, didn't work.
before changing the clutch, check your trans
engage trans, turn input shaft by hand to see out put shaft turn or not
if not or weak, transmission problems.

This helped, but in my case I was unable to access the clutch window so I went through the fork opening and sprayed penetration oil started it in gear with the clutch pressed and kicked the clutch pedal a few times with the brake pressed and it released the Jammed clutch

What's the name of the part that you use your screwdriver on? I am currently facing the same problem but on a Nissan Navara 4WD. Had the clutch plate and pressure changed but still having the same problem.

I have same problem i put new engine on after everything was all good the car drived well and i left for weeks without drive when i went to starte again the gears are locked i changed the clutch master cylinder still doesn't want to go gears when the car is on 😢

I’m having the same problem with a 1995 Silverado manual transmission. I already change the slave cylinder but still won’t go into gear when running. I’m about to change master clutch cylinder and hopefully that works. I might need a new clutch kit. How do I free the clutch without taking down the tranmission like you did to your Jetta?

What you might try is (if you have an open area) to Start the car IN GEAR and try to shift is without the Clutch) I can drive a standard transmission without using the clutch across the country as long as the car/truck has a strong enough battery to start me moving when I have to come to a Stop Sign or Stop Light ! I really only need a Clutch for Starting the vehicle to move from a Stop. *FJB !*
