Toyota pops out of gear - check this 1st

Customer almost didn't leave the truck but instead said they would just live with the truck as a 4 speed instead of a 5 speed. They thought it was a bad transmission and that was a logical conclusion other than I have seen this happen before on another toyota. The problem isn't the internal gears or syncros but instead a shifter issue causing some gears to only engage partially. My quick check is test drive the vehicle and lift the shifter up firmly while shifting into the gear with an issue. If the problem goes away we just need to return the shifter back to it's original condition by replacing the shifter seat and bushing.

July 2022 -Great Informative Video. I started having this problem today in 4th gear for my 1995 Taco. I checked with Autozone and they have both of those parts you are showing. O'Reilly or some other places may also have it. Autozone lists it as:

Mine stays engaged if I hold pressure on it, otherwise it pops out of 5th and goes to neutral

I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX manual that’s having this exact issue. I got a rebuilt transmission put in last year in February along with a new clutch and around December last year it started doing this. I took it back to the shop that did the work and they “replaced the cable bushings” but it’s still doing it. Any idea what it could be?

I have an 87 pu. I called Toyota parts. They said they didn’t have this part listed for an 87. But they also said that it didn’t necessarily mean the seat and bushing weren’t compatible with mine. I’ve got a g52 5spd for a 22r. What do you think? Does your experience say it’ll fit with my setup ? Before I start taking the shift lever apart?

My 2003 2wd 3l diesel 5 speed pops put of 5th all the time, no other gear.
