In the story of Lazarous and the rich man, Yeshua was still alive, showing there is a place after death Abraham's bosom, and hell. After the crucifixion we see many in the streets of Jerusalem who were brought out by Yeshua at the time he was seen also. Awaiting to go to heaven, they as Yeshua had received the immortal body Paul describes after death for believers. To be absent from the body is to be with the Lord, shows that Yeshua defeated death and believers will also.

I am so sick of these false teachings. If the dead go to heaven instantly upon death what is the judgement day for. Who is Jesus going to raise when he returns. What did the thief on the cross say to Jesus: Remember me on that meaning on the day of judgment and Jesus replied; I promise you today that day you will be in heaven. Meaning that on the judgment which will be upon His return the Theif would be going to heaven. No one goes to heaven or hell instantly upon death just like the quoted on Old Testament: The dead know nothing, The remain in the grave till Jesus returns and upon his return He will raise His elect (the righteous ones to be with Him. The rest remain in their graves till the end of the seventh millennium and raised for the white throne judgement and are judged based according to their works and cast into the lake of fire along with Satan if they didn’t qualify to be in the Kingdom.

People are not allowed in Heaven in the Old Testament they reside in Sheol where they sleep. There is of course no Hell in Judaism it being of Christian origins. Lot of silliness results in trying to project Christianity into the Old Testament.
