About a year ago I developed a pretty severe adhesive allergy so overpatches and grif grips (which I used to use) are so irritating to my skin I get severe contact dermatitis. I started using hydrocolloid bandages underneath the adhesive but now I’m getting reactions to that. I’m glad you’re finding techniques that work for you!

Definitely gonna get some overlay patches and a bottle of skin tac. I usually get about 5-7 days out of a sensor and I can't afford not to get all 10!

I am a 150lb, 5’6” male and I have been using the dexcom g6 for about 9 months now. At first, I was placing it right on my tricep but it was giving me extreme pain. After some research I learned its supposed to be subcutaneous- under the skin- and that spot of my body had 0 free skin to spare (Im very fit).

After many trials and errors I started putting it in the valley of my shoulder and bicep in a horizontal position. Sometimes they are perfect and i forget they are there and sometimes they are far from ideal.

However, the pain of a bad placement is far less that of high blood sugars, fainting from lows, and losing life and limb. It changed my life for the better. Over a 3 month span my A1c went from 8.8 to 5.8.

I encourage everyone to keep trying placements because you will find one that works! I find the Skingrips to be excellent in terms of adhesion and longevity. However, they made me break out in the area it was adhered to. Skin glue seems to work better for me. I

I just got the dexom about two weeks ago and I work outside in Florida doing landscaping, Almost every day I’ve found it starts peeling off (even had it completely rip out on the second day) so I will have to try some of these tips

Thanks for the helpful video! I've been having problems getting started with the G6. I keep getting error messages and nothing recommended by tech support has helped. Might it matter that I have an older phone I'm using instead of the Receiver? According to their website, phone should be compatible.

I used to use the little clear "waterproof" covers. They work "just OK" for a couple of days, then the edges start to peel, then they're sticking to clothes and what not. I just got the skin grip. WOW. The texture of the fabric on them can get a little strange. I think the pool chemicals may have adversely affected the texture, but not the grip. 10 days, still on solid.

I live on Siesta Key in Florida and I had a serious problem with sweating making my G7 sensor come loose. I did some research to see what was the strongest tape and it was Gorilla tape with double adhesive. It is VERY sticky and strong. It seemed like it was working perfctly but after 3 days it became loose and the sensor failed. I was pretty surprised as it stuck so tightly to my skin that it would pull my skin when I moved. I was worried about having trouble removing it after the 10 days. I was also worried about the adhesive irritating my skin because it had a very strong chemical smell but it didn't at all. I'm an RN. What I'm going to try next is a stoma wafer. It's what we use for patiens with a colostomy. Very sticky and it's extremely important that it doesn't come off so I'm thinking that is the best chance I got.

I am new to using a CGM (Libre 2). I have always had problems with adhesive bandages coming off. So right from the start I prepared the site carefully with soap and an alcohol pad. To be on the safe side I first apply a layer of Skin Tac to my skin, implant the sensor, and then apply the Skin Grip overpatch. After 4 days one of the edges of the Skin Grip patch lifted up but I solved the problem by using another Skin Tac swab to apply more adhesive to both the skin and the underside of the overpatch. I then let the Skin Tac dry until tacky and pressed the overpatch back down. So far this has solved the problem.

Great explanations! What happens if I inadvertently ruined the original sensor adhesive? Do you of any adhesive I can use ?

I have used several different surgical adhesives. After cleaning area well, following all your suggestions, if I sweat cutting the lawn, exercising, the overpatch begins peeling almost immediately . I have to replace the overpatch every couple of days. So frustrating.

I sweat a lot too and they ALWAYS fall off early. Good video brother.

Great video! I always shower before a new sensor. I dry off completely and then use an alcohol wipe let that dry, then I use an Allkare wipe (I am sensitive to adhesive) let that dry, then I use skin tac (it comes in wipes or a bottle I loke the bottle for less waste) let that get really tacky and then apply the sensor. I clean around the edges with uni-solve adhesive remover on a cotton ball if I have extra skin tac not under the sensor it will stick to your clothes. This usually works really well for me. If I do get some of the edges to peel up over time I just add a little skin tac to the loose spots and it holds. Hope this helps someone out there.

I put on my first sensor today. Did a gym session 2 hours after the sensor had finished warning up. It didn't last the end of the session. I will try my arm next time and I will ensure to shave the area first and use extra adhesive and, probably most importantly, an overpatch.

I am new to the g7 and my issues is I naturally sweat like a waterfall and it makes it hard for it to stay on long, if it’s not the sweat, it falls off because my skin is not dry enough, or something! I really love the dexcom but I keep losing sensors!

Hi i want to ask you about how the data recorded ? Means let say the sensor used for 10 days but in the 5th day the calrity stopped working for a day or two .. the recorded data in the sensor can be retrieved when the clarity app back to work ? This is very confusing to me how the data are stored frim the Dexcom g6 sensor ?

I've had four fall off in the last four days!!! So much money and now I will run out!!! This is after they had already replaced two. Two of them were replacement for the other two. 😭 I was using Libra but I really hated that I couldn't have real time numbers. Maybe I.should just go back to using them
