This is too sad. This is all they had. These aren't rich people. And the media has already mived on. Their lives are forever changed.

I drove through some of the worst of it along 107 to 226 into Unicoi, I couldn't find a away back to Tennessee because every bridge is gone. I got real lucky that they had just got the road ckear, or I would have been stuck in a 18 wheeler in a place I never should have been. But I'm glad I got to see it, it was humbling. God bless those who still haven't found their loved one's.

I have been to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure several times, my Grandfather was born and raised in Polk County, NC which is about a 20 minute drive from Lake Lure/Chimney Rock. It hurts to see it look like this! I loved walking through the town, going through all of the shops and meeting very nice people, walking behind the shops to the river to play around on the rocks, this is tragic! I still have 2 Uncles who live in Polk County about 25 minutes from this spot and one of them is in a wheelchair because he has been paralyzed from the waist down since he was 16. Thank the LORD that his property was safe! We had plenty of family and friends ready to come all the way from Michigan to help if needed, but he was ok. Now we are helping the local communities by donating water and supplies directly to the locals. Stay Safe, North Carolina is, in my opinion, one of the most Beautiful States in this country. And that area that got hit is one of the most beautiful areas of the State for me. They even filmed the movie “Dirty Dancing” in Lake Lure because it’s just so beautiful. ❤️🙏

One question I have is why didn't this get press coverage on regular news, appropriately? These people are suffering, and the lack of coverage nationally was so bizarre. Some things I will never understand but, I do have a clue why. It's profoundly saddening 😢

I'm not sure what people are expecting to see on just 30 days . This area needs to be revisited in 6 months and then one year later. The devastation this storm created is not going to change in days, months or maybe years. There's going to be areas that will never look like they did just over 30 days ago. The people who live in these areas are going to need help far longer than what we believe. One of the ways is support the small business that depends on tourism. I went up last week and while there was some people but it was nothing like last year. The area I went to suffered only some minor flooding and landslides compared to other places, but even they were suffering from the lack of tourism.
