I knew about his voice but I could never make out any of the words except for “Luigi”. I thought he was screaming in agony

Oh man. I've played this game AT LEAST 50+ times and never heard this. The counter was at 37 before my memory card got wiped

My first years playing, my tv wasn't too loud so I think i heard the "Hey luigi" but the rest just sounded like Mario was taking battle damage. "Whats the hold up?" Sounded more like "Oof ooh oof wah!"

I always heard the “hey luigi!” But the rest I always just thought it was like, echo/metal pipe sounding. Never could make it out.

It’s not really hidden, he yells that constantly when you’re within earshot of the room he’s in

Interesting, to say the least! As a kid, I always thought he said, "Hey, Luigi! Go home-aah!" Even my siblings who grew up with the game as well but this helps with that mystery a ton! Thanks!

Really need Marios "what´s the hold up-ah??" as a ringtone for my second and third phone alarm in the morning ^^ I´ve probably watched this way too many times by now, it´s such a sweet little detail :)

THANK YOU! You don't know how long I've spent trying to scour the web for what he was saying. I even stood above the well with my TV up, and thought he was saying "Hey Luigi, call for Bowser!" 😆
