this may sound weird but i feel like you shouldn't tell the intruder/murderer that you've called the cops as they might seize the chance to try and escape before the cops come, if you try and keep them busy or stall them, the police can come and arrest the person easily without having to search for them for days on end.

Story 1: Sam should've kept his mouth shut and did as his brother told after he found Nina. He already called the freaking cops, but telling Joe that he called the cops is a dumb move as Joe could get scared and escape like he did in the video. If I were Sam, I would've went up to my room. Then the cops can catch Joe by surprise. But because of Sam's dumb move in telling Joe about the cops in story 1, Joe escaped. Don't be like Sam, guys. Don't be of Sam, an abuser is out on the loose.
