Preparing for Army Basic Combat Training 101

This is one of the most asked questions I get on a daily basis. People think Basic Training is the most physically challenging thing they will do in their life, but in reality it is 90% mental and 10% physical!

Everyone focuses on the physical aspect and ALWAYS overlooks the mental challenges they will face.

When you’re preparing for Army Basic Combat Training, you have to get your mindset in check and realize that your entire life is about to be flipped upside down for the next 10 weeks and you will go without your daily creature comforts such as your cell phone, friends, etc. but realize it is only temporary and after 10 weeks it will end.

However, if you go there without mentally preparing yourself, life is going to be much more challenging.

So my advice?
Understand what you’re about to go through to the best of your ability—(ask your recruiter, other Soldiers, YouTube, etc)—understand that it will be uncomfortable, and lastly, understand that it is only temporary and when you look back, you’ll be glad that you did it.
