25 Things You Missed In Kingsman

The latest film from legendary director of X-Men: First Class and Layer Cake is another installment in his franchise that focuses on tropes from famous spy tv shows and movies like the James Bond 007 franchise, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. or Get Smart. It also has references to franchises starring the likes of Sir Michael Caine and more. These are the same inspirations that caused the similarities between Vaughn’s spy franchise and the Austin Powers franchise, namely the spy with glasses trope that both films use. They also feature the Batman Begins star to drive the point home.

There are many other references to other spy films, behind the scenes secrets and such that this franchise has pulled past you. You might love to know about the scene that almost caused several real life fatalities when a water stunt went horribly horribly wrong. Then there are actors like Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Sofia Boutella, Ralph Fiennes, Taron Egerton and Aaron Taylor-Johnson who all have personal stories about the franchise. Don’t forget The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal who was a Statesman modeled after actor Burt Reynolds for the previous installment. There are also references to the Superman franchise, Martha Stewart and several other popular tv shows from when Matthew Vaughn was a kid. Apparently they left such a mark that he was willing to pass up his sequel to X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The sex ending in Kingsman was funny and stereotypical, but more funny was that Vaughn get along with the ending making it an important plot point in the second movie, reversing the "one night only" trope of James Bond movies and having Eggsy maintain the relationship and considering her a priority, even above his mission.

Something you missed was another thing about the dogs. It’s pretty obvious to anyone who knows anything about Elton John, but the dogs names are Benny and Jet, a reference to his song Benny and the jets
