NOTE: This video is specific to PowerStop Drilled & Slotted Rotors.

If you just acquired new Drilled & Slotted Rotors, it's important to know which is the left and right rotors. Installing the rotor correctly will allow for maximum cooling and long-term brake system performance. For PowerStop Drilled & Slotted Rotors, we provide a sticker on the hat of the rotor indicating which side it should be installed on.

Luckily, if your rotors are not labeled, there is an easy way to tell. On the top side of the rotor, follow up along the slot. If it is correct, it will point toward the back of the vehicle.

Mine are labeled but the slots and holes go the opposite direction.

If the internal fins are directional to expel heat then you can put them on the wrong way. The slots and drills have no specific direction required. Its the internal fins if your rotor has fins.

Is there much problem now with gas? Wasn't that more an issue before when they had asbestos?

So I’m actually looking at getting a brake set from you guys. But I do tow a heavy trailer and I have also heard of problems with drilled rotors.

This is incorrect information. You orient the rotor based upon the inner vanes. The vanes will lean in one direction and should lean towards the rear of the vehicle. If you have rotors that have vanes that are not directional, then following the instructions in this video are correct.

I was always told that s/d rotors is to dispurse water from making your pads hydroplane GI ING you better breaking in rain.

I keep seeing Dodge Challengers with mismatched or wrong way facing rotors. They came from the factory that way. It’s supposed to vent the gas to the outside of the wheel. Not concentrate it to the center.

Don’t be fooled, drilled and slotted don’t cool anything better. It’s strictly to channel off gases from a melting pad away from the friction surface so the gasses don’t get trapped between the pad and rotor. In other words all these are is a bandaid for you melting brakes. Also don’t put any drilled and slotted on a off road vehicle, you will learn why after you go through any mud.

Or just buy plane face rotors . Drilled is nothing but looks
