That was the best explanation for the break rotor direction for the novice for those that are learning to work on their own cars

Great job
Loved what the perspective of left and right were
Thank you

thanks for this. I didn't think it would mater cause on regular rotors it don't. but because these kind are slotted/drilled it does. no wonder people say these suck. they don't install them right.

It is all about the vents, they point towards the back at the top. They expel hot air and gasses, not scoop it. This is the most important feature of directional rotors. If they are radial (straight out), it is irrelevant how you want them to face.

Dude you're awesome, I've been trying to figure this out and you think the manufacturer would leave instructions when you order rotors especially online as far as how it would work. Thank you for your help😊😊

Well geez. I didn't consider the right hand drive vehicles. I'd still use the same convention though

If u have non-directional vents in the middle you can install them either way you want, honestly but I can tell you after running drilled & slotted rotors for 1000's upon 1000's of miles on multiple different vehicles that one way just wears out the pads faster vs. the other way...having the drilled holes & slots facing towards the front of the vehicle is going to give u the best brake "biting" performance & shorter stopping distances versus having them facing the rear of the vehicle...of course this will, in turn, cause u to have to replace pads sooner but it is also more than likely the reason u bought the more expensive rotors in the 1st place, right? Better overall braking performance!?! You can install them backwards if u wish & it will make the pads last a little bit longer & I suppose the rotor will still dissipate heat faster than a regular rotor but you're not going to be able to stop much faster, if any, than an oem rotor so what was the point, really? I've been told by multiple pros that directional vents in the middle of the rotor always should face the rear of the vehicle like if u drop a screwdriver in it, it will point towards the rear but I have never personally ran a set of those...

i would follow the manufacturer's direction for their product not what you hear or see from vlogs. Power Stop labels their rotor on which side should be installed.

The fucked up part is different companies have uneducated ppl telling whats what from my experience and knowledge on not just vehicles but common sense i too said the same things both inside groves and the slotted directions and lmao its so satisfying having you teach me something that i didnt know existed and let me know i was right lol A1 auto is so fucking wrong lmfao

The shop put my sister's rotors on wrong. I did it correctly the next time.

Look at the part numbers on the edge of the rotors

Say …why don’t they just label it.

The slots on all slotted rotors should point forward so the wear dust is ejected outward away from the brake caliper by centrifugal force ...!

If people do not know which side of their vehicle is left or right, it is better that they do not drive.
