Can You Resurface a Drilled & Slotted Rotor? | PowerStop

You can cut or machine a drilled and slotted rotor. Just set your brake lathe to its slowest setting to avoid any chatter.

Whenever replacing your pads, you’ll want to replace or cut your rotors, so the new pads can bed-in properly.

My Acura has Akibono Slotted and drilled rotors I installed two years ago and they are still great. The solid rotors in the front kept getting warped and would cause the car to shudder when stopping. changed them twice before getting the slotted ones.

I just discovered my passenger side caliper is seized up, I bought slotted and drilled rotors last year, now the right side is all glazed from the heat buildup, it doesn't look that good even though it's virtually brand new, I have a local guy who cuts drums and rotors but need to know if it can be saved before, I might have to replace the pads and rotors again, or hopefully I would have both sides machined regardless, he only charges five bucks a rotor this way Theyll both wear evenly with new calipers, I plan on replacing both of them, I believe in doing them in pairs.

it is really hard to find anyone in Atlanta who will do this with slotted rotors. There is a widespread misconception that you cannot machine them... anyone in Atlanta know how to do this?

Terrible rotors, replaced with the K3118 Front Z23 Carbon Fiber Brake Pads with Drilled & Slotted Brake Rotors Kit on April 2nd 2021 and now 4 months later they vibrate so bad it will shake the steering wheel out of your hand. Definitely will not use Power Stop again.

I actually will need to resurface Powerstop rotors unfortunately . I just got them in July 2023 and they already have hotspots.
