Make sure you align the seat so your shoulders are in line with the handles or you’ll have a lot of shoulder pain sooner or later

second one is good no need to be confused the first one is gonna fuck up your movement and shift the tension from chest to shoulders

For people with a decent amount of shoulder mobility this isn't strictly necessary. With the machine set to the back most hole for flys I can quite comfortable get the first rep in with a weight for an 8-12 rep range. I do often need to assist the eccentric of the last rep by turning my body though.

If you can't move out of the hole with a loaded stretch and full ROM, you shouldn't be lifting the weight...

Is what I would say according theory but we all know that optimizing those small details only matter once you are near or at your genetic limit and most of us will never even approach that is it doesn't matter.

I tried this method once, and it is inconvenient with heavy weights, energy-consuming and simply pointless. This technique of placing handles can be normally used only with small weights... Where it is not really needed.

I find ppl that do this really stupid since ur gonna have to stretch that much every rep to do the exercise properly, and stopping at full stretch like a bench press to not use elasticity from tendoms to rebound...

I believe this by far the dumbest setup for flies and is far from optimal.

1. 90% of pec decks allow to adjust it so you can't cry it too hard at the bottom.

2. If you're able pull 1 side at a time the weight is probably not heavy enough for you not be able to start at the bottom position.

3. You're already going to go and be in a deep stretch anyway. Yes, it makes that first rep harder but you probably set up the machine as you would for any other exercise you shouldn't have that much of a issue.



Closing notes this setup is not good by any means especially if you use this machine in any lower rep range like 8-10. And even than there's no reason unless you're incredibly large and the machine is very limited on adjustments for you properly setup correctly. If you can properly setup and preform a db press you can squeeze and properly setup and do a good pec deck fly.

If you need to do that, then the weight is too heavy for you and you need to stop ego lifting
