Thank you Benett this is helpful. I had some questions about recording to an iPhone 16 ProMax, and Apple Care couldn't find the answers. The setup an appointment for me with the so called "genius" at the Apple Store. He INSISTED that I must format the external drive in a computer - never in the iPhone. Apparently he was wrong. He sent me to a document from Apple support that says the iPhone can only record to external drives of the following capacities: 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. I guess he was wrong about that too, because I clicked on your link and Lexar does make a 2TB version of this drive. So, have you (or others here) tried recording from their iPhone to the 2TB SSD?

2:00 Right now, you no longer need a external SSD to record at 60 or 120 fps. With the Final Cut app or the blackmagic app you can do it without any problem. At least in the 15 and 16 pro versions.

It doesn't have a safety track if the receiver is not plugged in all the way. Something you forgot to mention.
