Gaming on a TV: Better than a Monitor? (PS5 / Xbox Series X)

Should you use a gaming TV or monitor for console gaming? I’m using the 77” C1 OLED as my gaming TV for the PS5, and the 27” LG GP950 Monitor. But which is better? Today I’ll explain why I prefer playing PS5 and Xbox Series X on my TV vs monitor, and what the pros/cons are.

Are you team TV or Desk & Monitor?

Thanks for watching, Chris.

Depends on the genre. For single-player story driven games, definitely a TV, but for fps, city builder or rts games I prefer gaming at my desk.

Team TV! Can’t beat the experience. I have the LG G1 EVO 65” with complete Sonos Arc surround sound w all the latest consoles. I feel blessed to own em all.

Since getting my PS5 late 2020, I've become team TV. I never thought I'd lose interest in PC Gaming, but All I needed was 60fps. Even in 1080p, my TV upscales the image so well that I can barely tell that it isn't natively 4k. And as you've said, the social experience is awesome. Now that my wife sees the majority of my gaming, she's actually started taking an interest in it. And even makes time to watch certain story games. It's been great. I'm honestly considering selling my PC, or downgrading to a lower end gpu that just lets me do some occasional emulation.

I can never give up playing on my 77" C1 unless it's on a better oled of the same size or larger. That combined to a Dolby Atmos system just beefs up the experience to another level.

Desktop 100% switched earlier this year and it's way better for me. I like being closer to the screen as it keeps me more engaged and allows me to enjoy the smaller details. As for sound headphones 100%. I love my LG CX and 5.1.2 vizio soundbar for TV watching but for games I like a more personal close up setup

Always been a TV gamer, been using a 40" Sony since 2013, unfortunately it just broke recently so I've been in the market for a new one. I actually bought the 48" C1 but unfortunately it was too big and things seemed blurry. I'm going to look into the 42" C2 in the future.

Great video, now this is an interesting one. I find I end up in front of my TV which is an LG OLED C1 a lot of the time but definitely good to have both option's.

I’m team TV. I got the LG c1 oled and it’s so good! The image quality is insane and response time is great for games like vanguard. (Im using the ps5) I’m really happy with my choice.

Team tv! You hit everything spot on when it comes being more comfortable, having my soundbar and hearing the game around me. To me it's a better overall experience

I never really stopped playing games on my tv, even though I primarily played on PC from 2011 to this year. I have a 4k HDR monitor for PC gaming but as soon as I got an Xbox Series X back in January I switched back to being primarily a console gamer.

For the 11 years prior to that I'd played the occasional Xbox 360 game and then last gen the occasional PS4 game. That's all changed now with my new 4K Dolby Vision HDR tv and Series X. This current gen has finally caught up with the majority of gaming pcs by offering 4k 60ps gaming.

OLEDs are definitely making a huge impact on the industry because of how great they are for gaming, I'm excited to see how great they will continue to be. We really need 28' - 32' size oled monitors now which would be perfect for gaming.

Hands down prefer to game on my 65'' Samsung TV & PS4 Pro! I work in the IT industry, so really don't want to spend more time in front of a monitor, after I have finished work for the day.

Seems like TVs have simply caught up with monitors now, in terms of responsiveness, refresh rates etc. It truly is a beautiful thing to have the marriage of the new-gen consoles and massive displays that can do them justice. Late to the party, I know, but I just finished the PS5 version of Uncharted 4 from the Legacy of Thieves collection and it looked so incredible on my C1 that I was almost in tears, lol. One of very few games to ever truly 'wow' me in terms of visuals.

Anyhoo, sorry for the rambling comment Spawn; I'm team TV/sofa all the way as I don't play competitive games. Cheers for another brilliant upload mate - can't speak highly enough of what you do 👍

As much as I would want a TV for the XSS, I have to go for a monitor (24") because I live in a small space. Less is more I could say. I have my laptop, monitor, and console all in one desk. Still, I am always open to changes and improvements, but the setup works and convenient for my current situation.

Since switching to console gaming on a monitor, I've never looked back. Once getting used to the size difference, I just find it more immersive and I much prefer to sit at a desk playing than sitting on a sofa/bed. It doesn't matter if it's competitive MP or single player, I use a monitor for everything gaming now.

I jumped into PC gaming last year and I used a really nice 1440p 27" monitor for PC gaming and a 65" LED tv for my PS5 and switch dock.
Just over a month ago I purchased the 48" C1 for my PC...and I love it...I will never go smaller again.
I moved both my PS5 and Switch dock to the C1, so now I am in gaming Nirvana.
The C1 is amazing and it is nice having all my gaming platforms hooked up to one TV.
Although my PC monitor was really nice, I was never completely satisfied with PC gaming until I switched to the C1.
Now PC gaming has the same experiance as console gaming but with better performance and quality...I don't have to choose between performance vs graphics on PC.
Having said that, I still want the PS5 for those amazing must play Sony 1st party games...but I have started buying multi platform games on PC instead of PS5.

Dude you remember those days when you boot up your PS2 when your friends come over and play mortal combat or tekken and the winner stays on and there will be that one guy knows all the finishers and combos but in the end we all chill out on the couch with your friends ol' days 🥺🥺🙁
