Me as a Dutch person can safely say, we don’t even think about it that the “dijken” can break, we never worry or think about it, sometimes we even forget they can break, simply because we don’t think about them

The YouTube algorithm is really making sure all Dutch people are going to see this!

“Can you imagine living somewhere in this area?”

80% of the Dutch population: ja, hoezo?

To answer your question about “celebrating Christian holidays the Dutch way”, basically means that although we are mostly not religious, we still like the idea of family gatherings, sharing, dining together and giving/unwrapping presents with the family.
The Dutch word “gezellig” roughly translate to “cozyness” and that’s what it is all about.

I’m Dutch myself, fun fact: We watch and listen a lot of English/ Amarican movies and music. When I was young I learned how the English language should sound. We always watch foreign films with subtitles. That’s also why we speak English so well.

''Can you imagine even just living somewhere in this general area?''
Yes. Yes I can, because I live in that general area. I never actually think about it, because it's completely normal for me. And it's very safe.

As a Dutch person; I can confirm barely anyone worries about the dijken breaking. We trust them quite well although recently there were some water issues in limburg happening causing quite big floods in the province (& Germany) resulting in quite some extensive damages (mainly in Germany). Also yep, most people make their broodje hagelslag like this; bread - butter - sprinkles. Oh one more thing; I’m surprised to see they said the Dutch people generally like the royal family. Many people around here and many people on social media complain about them all the times due to their salary, the purchases they make and the (according to people online/around) lack of value they add to the nation. I myself don’t have anything against them but I would like to see maybe a decrease in the salary (being part of the royal family, 18+ years of age and being the heir to the throne or king/queen gets you a salary of €1.5M per year) and transparency about what they spend it on (not every little thing like groceries or clothes but like the bigger purchases)

The euthanasia issue. I'm Dutch, my sister died of cancer in 2019. She was transferred to the hospital because she was in too much pain to stand. She was kept on morphine and was told she wouldn't be able to leave the hospital anymore. Her condition worsened as the tumor grew, pressing on her stomach and other vital organs. She could no longer eat, drink or use the bathroom. She was just hanging on, drugged to fuck by the constant morphine. Rather than living like a dying house plant for maybe another week or 3, she opted to go out on her terms by choosing euthanasia. She was surrounded by her family and close friends as she passed, peacefully falling asleep to the music she had picked out. I miss her dearly, but the end she chose was in a way very beautiful and comforting.

As a Dutch man I love to see American YouTubers like you, reacting to us. Especially music and history wise.

I believe the islands are called 'Wadden islands', not 'Walden'.

Hi, I'm from the Netherlands. I noticed that you were curious about the windmills and if they are still useful. Well, they are very useful! My dad has a craft profession in restoring old windmills. They keep the old mills in wonderful condition and functioning! My dad (with his work) once had a project on de Zaanse Schans (shown in your video) to rebuild an old windmill that was destroyed. It was originally build in 1680, and destroyed in 1942. My dad helped it rebuild in two years, from 2005 to 2007. It's a saw mill that cuts wood. It's called: Het Jonge Schaap. I hoped you liked this piece of information :). Greetings from The Netherlands (Very much in the middle of the flood, may it ever happen)

Here in the netherlands when u give birth at home u call a "verloskundige" or a nurse specialized in helping women give birth. So the nurse comes to your house.

I am Turkish and I was born in the Netherlands. I can remember when I was a little girl, my grandpa from Turkey came over to visit us in the Netherlands. He is such a tall man and he actually never saw tall man in Turkey. One day while he is in the Netherlands he went out to the grocery store and saw all these tall dutchies. He was so in shock he finally saw people from his height. 🤣 it was so funny to see his reaction on that, because we didn’t knew better. But for him it was something so new to see. All of a sudden he wasn’t the tallest anymore. I will never forget that time. May you Rest In Peace grandpa ❤️

About the euthanasia thing. My uncle asked for euthanasia because he was dying due to extremely advanced lung cancer. He was wearing an oxygen tank on him at all times and had to sleep upright in his bed.

If they had denied him euthanasia, he would’ve died a slow, drawn out death of oxygen deprivation until he eventually suffocated to death. This is why a lot of people in the Netherlands and Belgium support euthanasia, because if you’re doomed to die, at least allow the people to die with some dignity and comfort. It’s not that just about anyone can file for euthanasia, as there are several rules to follow.

Fun fact about the Efteling amusement park (middle down). You actually hit the nail on the head though reversed. It is both older than the Disney parks and Disney had come forward in interviews back in the day saying his parks were based on our Efteling.

I was born at home and really, there is always a professional present. Like a nurse/midwife who just comes to your house when labor is starting. And if any complications come up, hospitals are fairly closeby. Especially compared to America. Our nearest hospital was in the very same city, so only like a 15 minute drive.

As a Brit, I find the Dutch water management amazing. On one of my trips, I cycled across the Houtribdijk between Enkhuizen and Lelystad. My impression was, it was overengineered, and could withstand anything, barring a major tsunami, so it doesn't worry me my trips are mainly spent below sea-level. There's a saying: 'an Englishman's home is his castle'. Not many can boast moats and drawbridges the way the Dutch can. I stayed in Gouda, and anywhere else the street would have been a narrow urban street. Here it was split by a canal and an amazing view every time I went out.
