Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through YouTube videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

One thing to remember is for most of the people these questions are being asked of is that English is not their first language so they are not only having to translate the question but they are then having to think of the English answer, and for some of these the names of things are different in English, the native language of the places they are thinking of and potentially also their own languages so....

Some questions are not easy to answer because cities are spelled differently in different languages. Rome is written in German with only 3 letters, "Rom" in Italian but with 4 "Roma", Vienna is called "Wien" in the national language German, Prague is also written in Germany with 4 letters "Prag" in Czech "Praha".

FOR THOSE PEOPLE IN VIDEO IS BIT HARDER. BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO KNOW ANSWER IN ENGLISH. LETS SAY CAPITALS. WE IN EUROPE LEARN IN OUR LANGUAGE, NOT ENGLISH. SO PE0PLE HAVE TO KNOW CAPITAL NAME IN ENGLISH.

I feel that all the questions that ask for countries with some number of letters or specific spelling and so on are harder for anyone who is not native English speaker. Because English spelling be crazy, especially in country names and capitals. But most people do a pretty good job regardless.

Cairo isn't on the coast, so the only capitals on the north coast of Africa are Rabat, Algiers, Tunis & Tripoli.

Americans: We have thousands of guns, shanty towns, mass shootings, mass poverty, slave prisons...

Also Americans: We don't like bad language!

I always remember it as a line of Longitude is always the same distance long, unlike a line of Latitude that get shorter as you approach a pole.

These are not simple questions. These are tricky and in English. You cannot compare this to the US ones.

People who claim someone is cheating because they have knowledge, are the same people who report people’s accounts after losing an argument on a topic because they don’t do any actual research.

I can't think of any capitals that don't have four letters. It's the ones with only four letters are hard to remember.

Bloemfontein, South Africa. It is a Dutch word meaning Fountain of flowers in English. Completely describing how pretty the city is.

You know it's a good question when your guesses are: "Vatican city? ...Mongolia?"
