I planted mine in beds 2nd April so got a while to wait for ours. Looking forward to them. I remember my Dads new potatoes he always saved the little ones for me and they tasted so good 😊

I always first week in June sometimes end of may I rootle around in the soil to see if I can find any and usually I did do I just took a few enough for a meal cos we couldn’t wait. We never had jersey royals cos mum and dad never bought veg they always grew their own. Dad would put the new potatoes in a bucket with some water and he gave me the broom handle and I would have to slosh them around to get the soil and skins off.

I love that "What's in the bucket" moment. Well done on a truly early harvest. My swift first earlies are a long way away as they are outside. But I might put a couple of buckets in the greenhouse next year.

I love to grow my potatoes in pots. Nice clean crop and no volunteers to deal with next year.I sieve the compost before reusing. Great harvest Barry and Mrs W. I brt you will have a fabulous dinner this evening. Mine aren't ready yet as I started them late, in March. I am feeling a tad jealous, Barry. Can I come for dinner please? New potatoes and cauliflower cheese- yummy! My mum would only buy Jersey Royals for new potatoes. She said that the taste isn't as great as the years have gone by. Maybe it was because they used to be sold with the compost? I can remember the flaking skin covered in compost asyou took them from the paper bag. Happy gardening 🙂

I sowed my rocket's mid Feb in my no dig raised bed outside. I then mulched with straw and loosely double fleeced.hope to get a earlier crop mid May.

Only started sowing mine on the 24th March (outdoors in 30L pots) so got at least another 6 weeks to wait! I've found in recent years that sowing outdoors too early doesn't result in a very good harvest, so i've held off a bit this year. Having that polytunnel definitely gives you an edge.

Another interesting and very funny clip. Didn’t bother with potatoes this year as I needed buckets to try something new, but after seeing your first early rocket I’m definitely going to do them next year. It’s like finding an early Christmas present. Cheers again Herms

Hi from Sheffield, I’m hilling up next week with damp leaves I collected in the autumn. I was given (scrounged) some lengths of decking 2.4m this week so they will make the border of my 3 m poly tunnel and give me room for a deck chair and a small table for my brew. I need staging next! Free cycle is my friend! My neighbour has much larger tomato plants than me but he heats his greenhouse and I don’t. I might look at harvesting the first of my first early spuds next week. Tomorrow is a weeding day and I’m sowing early carrots and parsnips. Got the weekend off - going to watch my team Swansea play in Norwich never been that far east before. Thanks for all your content

Very nice. I see you're already getting your money's worth from that new poly tunnel. It makes sense harvesting one or two plants early so you can extend your harvest. You'll have so many in a couple weeks you won't know what to do with them. Enjoy!

Rocket potatoes are certainly quick to mature but some gardeners think the taste is a big disappointment and it's better to wait a bit for Charlotte.

Another great video folks . The pea arch is now up and ready for the peas. Quick question, what hight are your brasicia arches Barry? I'm planting out purple sprouting brocoli and don't want to make them too small.

I seem to remember the first Jersey Royals being in a wooden bucket, or am I imagining that? They certainly don't taste the same nowadays, washed and in plastic.
I need some advice from Mrs W, I have grown Charlotte for the past few years in 30lit pots, but they fall apart when boiling. This year I'm trying Swift, so any advice on the best way of cooking them?
