then sn=a(r^n-1)/(r--1)
this formula holds good.. here r=3

Huh... Where did they derive this formula? Because I know the variation for Infinite Geometric Series in Calculus, and based on this version, it only reinforces the fact that an infinite Geometric series converges when |r|<1 I honestly didn't know (or more likely couldn't remember) that there was a version for finite series.

They are two formulaes so don't we look at the value of r whether it is less or greater than 1

We can also use formula= Sn=n/2(a+l)

=3 (3^10 -1)/9
=(3^10-1)/3
