Sum of the First N Natural Numbers | Formula and Proof

How do we find the sum of the first few natural numbers? We could do it manually if the sum isn't too big. But what if there are too many numbers to add, say a 100? We'll need to be smart then!

Let's explore a method to find such sums, and also arrive at a formula for the same.

The same logic can be applied to find the sum of any arithmetic arogression, i.e. the sum of a sequence of numbers, where every two neighboring numbers differ by the same quantity. For example, 2 + 5 + 8 + 11 + ... + 95 + 98.

The formula for the even one is n²+n or n(n+1) n is the number of terms
The formula for the odd one is n² n is the number of terms
If we use this formulas the first 10 odd numbers sums to 100
And the first 10 even numbers sums to 110
